What a fabulous teacher. I am so grateful to you for making this video, it has helped me immensely. For some reason I am fine with the equation visually but when I hear "x" and letters used for variables in English I find it incredibly distracting. Even though I know its just a place holder, for some reason it's like the alphabet is too noisy for my eyes, and instead if I replace it with an emoticon it's much easier

Great lesson and I'll have the Grandson watch. A couple comments: in the example "3 times a number added to 4 is 16", in the video you came up with 3x + 4 yet the statement actually is reverse of that 4 + 3x, "added to 4" is the correct statement I believe, even though addition is commutative. Some graders may not see it in that perspective. Other than that I'd prefer an explanation of the use of "X" or "N" being the variable because when we start adding objects like balls, rings and chairs it is easier for the student to relate variables to actual objects name. Great Video!!
