When I actually learned french I realised it is as rational as an equation...I believe spanish,italian and portuguese fit more the "romantic" sphere, they sound more vocal and fluid
@alam5055
@alam5055 3 жыл бұрын
Every language becomes rational when you know it. You start to focus on the words and the meaning instead of the sound of it. French for me sounds very melodic because of the accent at the end of the words and all the liaisons.

@@alam5055 This basically, for example, English is a very beautiful language and melodic as hell but people who know/have learned English consider it "bland" cause they don't focus on the sound of the language
@patoshippuden7199
@patoshippuden7199 3 жыл бұрын
@@wonderlandian8465 I disagree completely, when I learned it wasn't by theory, and yet I think the sounds are what makes it bland (which I don't is necessarily a bad thing btw). But the sounds of vowels and consonants are too either dry or simple. So I would never say romantic, but in some cases I would say cool. Like cowboys, or some action movies, etc.
@brookekarington

Wonderlandian nah, as a native english speaker who is learning other languages, in comparison, it is very bland lol. The words come out dry and as if we’re bored compared to the way other Slavic and romance/latin languages sound. There’s no apparent accent and it’s usually mumbled lol.

More vids like this are coming. Whoops I made a mistake at 8:23 and forgot to change the English translation, it should say something like: "So I guess it's... I don't know". Also I should say that, not every phrase is that easy to translate, people very often use conversational terms like "vel", "da", "jo", "altså", "sånn", which usually can't be directly translated to English

It's bizarre how much the Norwegian subtitles track almost one-to-one with the English subtitles. English is like Norwegian with a bunch of French words slapped on. Which makes sense since English became heavily influenced by Old Norse when the Vikings colonized England in the 800s. Now the actual syntax and grammar of both languages are pretty similar (though vocab and pronunciation are very different). Reminds me of my first Norwegian movie I've ever seen and how the hero of the movie said "I took a boat to Brazil" in Norwegian. It sounded almost exactly like it does in English. I needed to rewind a bunch of times to just make sure some English didn't slip in. But, nope, it was Norwegian. It was very, very weird...

1. French 2. Italian. 3. English (modern RP). And from this video, Norwegian sounds really nice (not as sing-songy as Swedish), and recently I heard someone speaking Finnish and that sounded really nice also.

THIS WAS SUCH A HELPFUL VIDEO!🙏🏼 I live in Estonia and have been learning Norwegian on my own but my biggest concern is that I don't recognize words and phrases when natives speak because I'm not used to training my listening skills/ don't have many resources other than some norsk youtubers that I watch and interviews with singers/actors 😬 One of the things, which I found really interesting was that when they announced where each one got their dialect, it was easier for me to understand them and also just appreciate the different variations of the language. So thanks!! Jeg har lært så mye takket være deg🧡

My native language is Czech🇨🇿 and my favourites are probably Russian🇷🇺, Finnish🇫🇮 and Georgian🇬🇪. I think that all the three are very rich and varied. They are difficult but they are difficult for some reason and when you learn some of them, your mind must be really enriched. Also, I love songs sung in these languages and the countries.
