On a recent trip to Lanzarote, I spent 1 and a half hours out at the airport at this great spotting location. I was videoing with my camcorder, handheld. With this location been so windy, and with a big microphone on top, you can get blown about and it’s hard to keep a steady hand.
Planes usually land and takeoff on runway 03 but when I arrived at the airport planes were landing and taking off on runway 21. This can be a tricky approach, coming in over the high ground with a left turn on short finals.
I captured a Jet2 going around on runway 21 at 7.00 minutes. They proceeded out over the sea, circled for a few minutes and returned to land and runway 03. The next TUI plane then took off on runway 21, but the following plane taxied down and took off on runway 03.
The wind was coming in off the sea which and was at an angle of about 90 degrees to the runway.
