Southeast Asia at its best. 85% of the country is untouched nature, widespread forests, steep mountains and wide river valleys, but also cool high plateaus and savannahs. The primeval forests support a fauna like something out of a fairy tale, with elephants, tigers, leopards, and some of the rarest animal species on the planet. Species never seen by humans are discovered at regular intervals. In recent decades, the few large mammals to be described for the first time were all found in Indochina and experts assume that most of them are at home in Laos: wild oxen such as the saola and kuprey or the truong son munjak. No outsider has ever seen a living specimen of the latter; its existence is only known indirectly, through skeletons, horns and bag that are occasionally found in remote villages. And there is the Mekong, one of the last untamed rivers on Earth. Fed by hundreds of tributaries, it is one of the richest freshwater systems on the planet, comparable only with the Congo or Amazon. This is where the Mekong catfish lives. At 3 meters long and weighing in at 300 kilograms, this monster must be the largest freshwater fish on earth.

My girlfriend is from Laos. I’ve learn’t so much from the forest, her friends, her family. First time I went to see her family in the forest all the villagers came out to greet me, so welcoming. I think they were overwhelmed because I eat local food and asked many questions and genuinely interested in their life. Can’t wait to go back.. I’m slowly learning to speak Laos. I can now say I love you in Laos. 🤪❤️

Hello to 4.3 million viewers. Big love from Nagaland N-E India 🇮🇳. Laos culture and traditions are pretty much similar with our Naga people. And when it comes to wilderness!? No doubt Laos holds many secrets 😇. Take care of yourself and don’t forget to take care of the wild animals and plants too .

My dad was from Savannakhet and would tear up every now and then talking about it. He left in '77 at 18 and spent 3 years in the Ubon Ratchathani Camp. He used to say us Laotian people smile even when we're in pain, because there's always something that could be worse.

I used to know some Laotian people when I lived in the tropical north of Australia. They used to sell all these amazing green vegetables at the local markets, long before Puk Choy etc became more widely available. Lovely, simple-hearted people who worked hard, cared deeply, and lived a happy life. I wonder what will happen in Laos over the next few generations; we always think about the good old days, but it's so hard to return to a non-industrial lifestyle - believe me; I've tried. Couldn't handle it.

God knows about the scamdemic, that are destroying people worldwide, and God is speaking, and people better listen, for Karma never loses an address. Everyone reaps what YOU have sown. Put a d before anger, and you get danger. Do not argue. Hands are for helping and not destroying. I have given solutions, but hard head makes for a soft behind.

My family and I lived in Laos from 1969 to 1971. I was eight when we moved there. My childhood memories from there are my favorite memories. The people and food are memorable, the Sunday open market was fascinating to an eight year old, the Mekong was mysterious. I've always wanted to go back as an adult but it won't happen so I have to be happy with my photos and my memories.

I love everyone. I'm full fledged Lao born in the US. Our parents and grandparents came to America for the freedom and acceptance of one another. They escaped from the horrifying Lao government that both Lao and Hmong fear. I hope the hatred stops all throughout America's nation between our Hmong and Lao citizens. America is known for uniting every race/ethnicity, we all as brothers and sisters need to unite and accept each other. Because now we're in America, and we're free.

It surely has changed, many more roads are paved, prices has gone up quite a bit, especially a long the backpacker trail from Vientiane up to Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang, Pakbeng, Huay Xai, or down south to Pakse and 4000 Don. But it hasn't changed THAT much in my opinion and not always for the worse. As an example the insanity in Vang Vieng 10 years ago has seriously calmed down.

I'm in LOVE with JESUS! "All things are made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:3! They haven't learned yet Who to PRAISE! Elephants, rocks and other dead things can do NOTHING to bless them. What kindness and mercy JESUS has! "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23! St John 3:16! 💞

The last few years are trouble with the Mekong. Do to the dam the Chinese build a few years ago. Many times I visit the city of Savarnaket. The people tell me that the water stay very low the last few years. It's a great country with very nice people. Only problem for a European is the fact that the lao people don't price there wear. So I pay always double for everything :-) In Thailand everything is priced so you know you pay the same as locals do. Nice docu. Thank you.
