Is there going to be an episode on K3 monochrome? It’s very interesting being the only monochrome DSLR on the market and way cheaper than Leica
@MuhammadKharismawan
@MuhammadKharismawan Жыл бұрын
I don't understand the interest on monochrome cameras when taking color pictures then converting it to monochrome give you infinitely more control over your picture.
@Jorge_Ambruster
@Jorge_Ambruster Жыл бұрын
@@MuhammadKharismawan The camera has this main advantages: -The b&w sensor doesn't have color filters so it gets more light, making it way better in low light and in terms of detail. -The actual color spectrum information received by a color sensor and the one received by a b&w sensor is different. Someone who usually works with b&w will notice the information lost because of the color filters in the color sensor. -The black and white camera could give you a faster turn around if you are going to edit for b&w because maybe you must just dial one or two things while with color the image differences mentioned above have to be minimized and then when that's done you go into those smaller tweaks.
@jw48335
@jw48335 Жыл бұрын
@@MuhammadKharismawan In addition to what others have stated, a monochrome camera is superior for black and white film scanning, since the color filter array doesn't mess up the grain structure for large prints. As well, just like with film, knowing the only option is black and white inspires that mindset in many people. While some people can switch gears and just "see" compositions in both color and without, for others it is remarkably difficult. For us, it makes it much easier to be intentional.

The 35mm Argus is one of my favorite lenses to shoot with. It takes some skill but i alwaya get amazing photos. Anything over f2.8 its pretty much a normal lens. Very sharp. I already have the Nikon 28mm f/2 manual focus, but if i didnt i would buy this 28mm in a heartbeat.

Another thing worth pointing out about the lens not talking to the body is you lose focus confirmation on Nikon Z cameras (maybe others, I’m not touching RF and my CL doesn’t support it on L mount). I pretty much hate Nikon as a company after taking my near 1000 usd in trade-in and then never giving me credit and ghosted me after emails and calls. That said, I do have one of the black z fcs that I love and use with the 23 and 35mm Voigtlanders that do talk to the body giving both manual lenses focus confirmation (the focus square changes color when it thinks it’s in focus, right most of the time) which lets you do focus trapping with a few settings set for focus priority.

Fantastic video as always, glad you guys found a new home. Puzzled that you didn't just start your own channel and work out a branding collaboration or something like that instead, but I'm sure you made the best decision for your own situations. Regarding 28mm lenses, wouldn't it be great if Sony replaced their weak 28/2 with a new G version? Something to pair with the stunning 20/1.8.

Welcome back to the lens world guys! I love this lens, but would not ever buy it simply because focusing at f/1.2 is a nightmare. Even the Sigma 28-70 f/2.8 (despite being f/2.8) is a better option for video folks looking at that focal length. But it is definitely a gorgeous lens, and Ryan really showcases its beauty impeccably

I'd personally agree. Slower lenses with better characteristics are preferable to me. The only reason I'd get such a fast wide is for astrophotography, which this lens is poor at.

I guess the alternative 28mm lenses would pretty much be the Nikon 28mm f/1.4 (AF-D or AF-S G), Sigma 28mm f/1.4 Art, 7artisans 28mm f/1.4, and Leica 28mm f/1.4 Summilux. Of those, the Sigma sells used for about $600USD, so on par with the Laowa used; the Nikon is about $1200 used, 7artisan is $500 new, and the Leica starts around what, $4000? Obviously, they’re all 1.4 instead of 1.2, but that difference is quite small. I have the Sigma, which was lauded for being incredibly clean and well-controlled when it came out; I think the Nikon and Leica are supposed to be even better, but I’m quite happy with my choice. Nevertheless, it’s great that Laowa continues to push the boundaries with new lens designs, delivering something different that more mainstream manufacturers probably wouldn’t feel fits their lineup.

I respected so much more Lawoa after trying my first macro lens from them, the 105mm 2.8 with 2x mag factor. Dear God, the sharpness and the rendering is amazing. It is just difficult to have a certain sharp picture for more distant subjects like a landscape since its only manual focus
