Laptop screen replacement on a Dell Inspiron 15 5570

Here I replace the screen in an Inspiron 15 5570 using a replacement from www.laptopscreen.com/.
Apologies for my arm being in the way for the first minute!
The screen that comes with the laptop is a particularly poor TN panel with terrible viewing angles. I replace it with an IPS panel used in the Inspiron 7567 which can be found here www.laptopscreen.com/English/... with the FHD and Matt options selected.
FULL DISCLOSURE: LaptopScreen.com offered to refund part of the purchase price of the screen if I made a short video on how to replace it, so here it is!

Thanks for the video. Very helpful. I damaged my GF's LCD when I closed it with a pen on the keyboard and need to replace. Seems very straightforward process.

I did the replacement with a glossy version. wow great images now. Old display is 6 bit TN and new is 8 bit IPS. great viewing angles. great contrast range. the original display was real junk.

Pretty simple and straight forward. Suggestions for future videos; Get a better camera angle so were not looking at your elbow, and occasionally show close-ups of the areas that you are disconnecting cables on.

Scott, I got my screen broken. It's a (default) LCD one with 60Hz. I'm planning to upgrade it to LED one (120Hz). Would that work or even 60Hz if 120 doesn't ?

Hi, on my 5570 lid is really hard to open, the whole laptop's case bends when you just open the lid. is it possible to regulate it somehow like on other laptops (asus, etc) ?

Great job man, i have the same laptop with tn screen, did you get a better viewing experience with IPS? and is it worth it to change the screen with IPS?

It's much better. I wish I had videoed the screen before doing the replacement to demonstrate. Colours are more vibrant and contrast is way better. I look at this thing pretty much everyday, definitely worth the £50 I spent to do it!

Hi, it's quite easy to do, it's unlikely that you would damage anything. You can leave the battery plugged in when you remove the screen. It's takes a lot longer to disconnect the battery than it is to replace the screen!

Any idea where I can find the 2 lane version of my eDP cable? I want to replace it AND upgrade the resolution, but the new LCD panel is 2 lane, and my original is 1 lane.

I'm planning to buy this laptop. How is the keyboard ? Is it good for long typing sessions? And the trackpad and its quality?

The trackpad is good and responsive. The keyboard isn't the best. It's a bit mushy and occasionally misses keypresses although that could just be my typing!

No idea, but I definitely wouldn't recommend going below fhd. 720 would look awful on a screen that size.

People will always advise you to remove the battery first, as it's the sensible thing to do. Realistically, I don't see any part of this process which is made more dangerous by leaving the battery in place.

@@aabhasthebest I prefer matt as it's much easier to see when working outside. Just get whichever one you prefer. I got the full HD one as that is what I originally had. 30 pin connector as it is not a touch screen (touch screen needs the 40 pin connector).

You didnt take the battery out? You dont always have to do that?

Not for something as simple as this. Ideally you would do (or at least disconnect it) but that is far more effort than just replacing the screen. Just make sure it's switched off and don't go sticking any bits of metal into random places!

I honestly don't know. Providing it has the same 30 pin connector in the same place I don't see why not, but I'm no expert on this. Mine was already 1080, just a TN rather than an IPS. Maybe someone else can give you their experience?

You do not have to disassemble the entire laptop. Look for other KZfaq videos to see how it's really done. This is a much easier and quicker job than in this video. This is why it's good to check your source before diving in.

Hi Rob, not sure what you mean by this. The only thing I removed was the screen bezel and the old screen, not sure how you would do it without removing those!

@@ScottMarley Scott my sincere apologies. I found your video as the CORRECT way. I had the other video with in another tab, and I meant to make my comment there. You took off the bezel, then the screen, then replaced the screen, then the bezel. That is CORRECT. I hope others don't get confused by this. I tried to find ways to remove my comment but I couldn't figure that out. Maybe there's a KZfaq video on it! Thanks for posting the easiest way for replacing the screen on the Inspiron 15 5770. I hope that people will find yours first.

@@naveenveldanda2937 I don't think so, I think you need the 40 pin one for that but you mights want to check with the company you're buying the screen from.
