I must have watched hundreds of Lara's performances, and an embarrassing amount of reactions. One singer or coach, I forget, said she's not afraid to sacrifice her beauty to properly convey the emotions or hit notes in a healthy way. In the more raw emotional songs she doesn't care if her face is all scrunched up, or her mouth is wide open, ya know? The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian. Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that brought Celine Dion to WW fame). He is also now the producer of Dimash for his US career. When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics. 🇨🇦 You may already have been told this by Eric Sicard, but I would remind you that Lara is a fully trained Lyric Soprano (and still travels to Belgium to train) ! The music and the lyrics that she plays with, are a Master Class ! Each syllable of each word, in every line of every lyric is sung clearly and completely, no matter which language she sings in ! My own recommendation at this depth of the rabbit hole is "Caruso", followed by "You're not from here" !

This Broken Vow was the first Lara's song that I listened to many years ago, after I heard Jackie Evancho sang Imaginer. Since then I have listened to this Lara's Broken Vow countless times, and still feeling the impact of the song it gives to me until now. Lara sings many other songs (many of her own writings) that are as impressive and touching as Broken Vow.

Lara is so amazing, sings with so much emotions, captivating. Yes, she had been through heartache. Another song she sang with so much emotions is " Parce que tu pars" from her live concert Nue. Thank you for a great reaction.

Lara's songs ( and she has a wide repertoire lasting thirty or so years) are all so expressive that time and again my heart connects with her and is lifted by her. I have watched two of your reactions to Lara. I love the way you break down the different elements of her performances and you're right, not only has she mastered her singing voice but she is a fantastic performer. It's hard to believe how good she is just watching her. Like you I think, I had not even heard of her until recently. How somebody that good for decades never became popular in America I'll never know. She is one of a kind and I'm so glad you've found Lara too.
