😍 Queen Lara again 😍 Thank you so much for reacting to my suggestion! 🤗 Lara always takes the emotional side of all songs she sings to the next level, even when they were not written by her. Somehow she establishes a connection with the song and literally “lives” it, while telling the audience a very personal story, which is always beautiful to hear… and see.

@@AleksReacts When possible, watch her “En Toute Intimité” acoustic concert. It’s a masterpiece and you’ll have a real intimate experience with her. You can find it here on YT with subtitles. I know it’d be unpractical to react to the whole show, but maybe you should react to one song from it, I suggest “Comme ils disent”, “Je t’aime” and “Mistral gagnant” but, seriously, the whole thing is magnificent and should be quietly watched in full in order to have the best experience.

Don't bother to use Google translate at all. First of all, my French is very rusty, mais je le parle en peu et je le comprend bien. 😊 Ah, Eric has provided me with a ton of information, but I need to double check on the amount of songs suggested by Eric. Some suggestions have escaped me, as it seems KZfaq's comment section in KZfaq studio is not always working. I'll go video by video. Finally, although I am not musically trained, I can recognize autotune/cheating very well. What Lara does cannot be achieved by autotune, it's simply not possible. Regardless, I will certainly add the song suggestion to the queue along with your note. If I can, I will try to react to both live and studio versions in one video.

Yes she did change the lyrics a little. ( she says" comunque, comunque ti capisco ", instead of " comunque ti capisco " and " una donna troppo sola che ancora ti vuole bene" while the original says " un uomo troppo solo che ancora ti vuole bene" . She didn't change other words, she did however add some melisma compared to the, amazing by the way, original version from Massimo Ranieri in 1998. "Perdere l 'amore quando si fa sera, quando fra i capelli un po' di argento li colora" it's a metaphor, it means losing love and breaking up a relationship in late age... Pay attention at her supra guttural distorsion (5,17) while she says " E vorresti urlare" ( that means "and u want to scream!") it looks like she is really screaming, but her sound instead is beautiful, controlled and compressed.. She is a masterclass, amazing performance, her melisma on the key change before the guitar riff (6.08) it's something outstanding . She has an amazing control on her pitch and head voice... Queen of beauty and technique ❤.

Thank you for confirming! I noticed in some places she didn't modify them to fit her gender (I believed I was king), but then in some she did (A woman all alone, etc.). I am glad I was not imagining things. 😂 I'm not sure if you heard the entire reaction, but I did understand this part very clearly: "Perdere l 'amore quando si fa sera, quando fra i capelli un po' di argento li colora". In fact exactly as you explained it. Finally, funnily enough "urlare" translates to "urlati" in my language as well and to me sounds more like what it means than it would in English. In English there isn't an exact translation, but close ones would be perhaps roar, howl, cry out... Musically speaking, I think both versions are excellent, but being a woman myself I preferred hers just a little bit over Massimo's because of the added vocal embellishments that make Lara who she is. I believe I was a King! I believe you were a King! So while when Massimo Ranieri as a man says that, the meaning is clear... I believe I was a king! But when Lara sings it, as a female, it can means " I believe you were a king (my king) Italian is complex.. Eheh, we have a complicated language sometimes and we have to coniugate all. 😊 By the way when this song came out in 1988 and won Sanremo, I was 17 and still remember the great performance of Massimo Ranieri, very powerful and passionate. But even Massimo Ranieri did compliment Lara after hearing her cover... She is absolutely amazing, and this song is so beautiful... And.. I dont know what version to prefer 😊. I love both... But Lara is in my heart. That song is so famous in Italy, it's like a anthem and many singers made cover of it... But at my advice, Lara's version is another level!

Thank you soooooooooo much! I kept wondering why she would say "I believe I was king", the other meaning you just explained makes so much more sense! This is precisely why I love having people whose mother tongue it is explain things to me. I do want to know the meaning of the words, not just blindly listen and pretend to understand. Believe me, I understand what it means to have a complicated language. We always have to conjugate everything. 😂 I was 11 years old in 1988 and I do remember the San Remo competition, but I did not remember Massimo Ranieri at all. San Remo was more something my parents listened to rather than me or my friends. I guess living in Italy, it was one of those songs you simply could not miss - it's on the TV, radio, playing in a restaurant, etc.

Massimo Ranieri it seems was one I did miss. For example, I have heard Toto Cutugno's L'Italiano (LOVE IT and even sing it in broken Italian around the house!) and Insieme (like it, but not as much as L'Italiano). Are there other songs I should hear by him or someone else just as popular in Italy and less known world over?

I loved the woman in her 30 year with her intensity and her vocal performances. I loved the 40 year old with her willingness to discover many different musical styles, always with a fabulous voice. And I love the woman in her 50s who has managed to preserve her voice through hard work, adapting to the evolution of her voice while retaining that little bit of enthusiasm and complicity that makes us melt. This song (winner of Sanremo Festival 1988) was one of the greatest successes of Massimo Ranieri (singer, producer, actor and theater director), a natural talent with a monstrous range, and who at 73 years old now begins a tour until 2025. The song was written to be sung by a man, no longer very young, who loses the woman he loves, sung in the feminine there are some words that interrupt the metric and flow of the sentence so Lara Fabian had to leave them as in the original often giving rise to a misunderstanding in many KZfaqReacters who have thought of a lesbian relationship. On the contrary, in the song "Adagio" Lara wrote the words originally in Italian and when she wrote the English version she did not limit herself to a simple literal translation but she modified entire sentences in order to make the phrasing flow.👍

I did read about Massimo Ranieri and even the controversy about the song being originally meant for someone else, but ultimately entering the competition with Ranieri singing it. I also read that some attributed the one to that very fact - that it was Massimo's interpretation that made it win. His voice was raspy and beautiful and I definitely liked the original a lot, too. I just did not remember it from my childhood days. Not sure why people would come up with a lesbian relationship, I mean I understood the part where she used "donna" rather than "uomo" as if they were in a way losing each other, but she is the one who wishes to die because of it. Also, given who sang the original, it was quite clear it was meant for a man. The part that I did not know, but was then explained to me by Francesco is that "me che fino a ieri credevo fossi un Re" could mean both "I thought I were king" as well as "I though you were (my) king". I was even wondering when listening to it if there was a different change (not "Re" to "Regina", but maybe an article or change of gender in the verb) that MADE it mean "I though you were king" as opposed to Massimo's original. I just didn't want to interrupt the song with my ramblings which I can write up here, though. 😉 Btw, I will be reacting to Adagio, just want to do it in the same week when I react to Dimash's Adagio, so it's more fun for me. Hey, even I can't always wait for my own reactions, because I have to delay hearing the song, so I do not do fake reactions to stuff. 😂

@@AleksReacts I agree, mine are obviously personal interpretations (male vs female) which do not detract from the beautiful lyrics of the song and Lara's equally beautiful interpretation and in any case I confirm that Ranieri won Sanremo thanks to his interpretation (almost rare in 1988's pop music), after all he is also a film and theater actor 😊

@@AleksReacts Yes, quite an important film and theater actor (Lara also had small cinema experiences), there is a curious coincidence, Lara was the singing voice of Esmeralda in the French version of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Massimo the singing voice by Quasimodo in the Italian version. The world is very small. 😄
