Willkommen! Join me for the largest flea market in Southwest Germany! It's full of vintage and antique treasures, with awesome deals. Villeroy & Boch dish patterns span the decades. Huge collections of salt glazed stoneware, including one that is worth a mint. See the antique Gothic Revival stoneware I find for 20 Euros. It's from the late 1800's Prussia, with an interesting history. The backstamp tells all! Limited edition collections are replicas of a vanity set made for King Ludwig II, builder of the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. Cut-to-clear is available in a rainbow of colors. Fine French antiques are steals just waiting for a new home. Lovely linens are offered at excellent prices. Great source for gifts and home decor here. Walk the flea market with me and shop the tables. It's a don't miss!

My mom passed away and I'm enjoying so many nice things she had brought with her when she moved here from Germany. Memories for sure. My aunt's too funny they all moved to the states in the late 50's their homes had so many German things you felt like you were entering a home in Germany...I miss them all ❤ Tante Hannelore and Tante Annalisa.

Being around all their beautiful things does bring us comfort. They would be honored knowing you are enjoying their treasured items brought from the homeland. Are many of these Mid-Century or antiques? Can imagine their china teacups and beautiful linens in a hope chest as they anticipated marriage. May their memory be eternal.

I loved watching you flea-marketing in Germany. I’m interested to know more about covered punch bowls. The cups seem larger than our traditional punch cups. What beverage is served from a German punch bowl. The earthen bowls are very interesting. So happy that you had fun to share with us viewers and that you could bring a few treasures back to Texas.

German punch bowls are used mostly for warm alcoholic beverages. Feuerzangenbowle is a flaming German rum punch that is popular in the winter months. Definitely not an American party punch served at showers and weddings.

What a wonderful day at the fleamarket! The decor with the chicken you'd use for breakfast is calles "Hahn und Henne" from Zeller Keramik. It used to be one of the, if not t h e, most popular decor for children's dishes. My guess would be one out two kids born before 1970 had it's first plate and mug with this decor (I did, I'm German) I's still produced today and is a classic. The "trios" might date back to the 20ies or 30ies and can be very valuable. You'd reckon the style, the forms differ. They're having quite a revival and are used also as mix & match by vintage lovers. Thank you for taking us along!

Oh my goodness what a wonderful market. So many familiar things from living on the Aachen area as a child when my father was stationed there in R.A.F. that was in the late 1950's early 1960's. My father had a lot of the beer steins and being close to the Dutch boarder my mother had so much delft pieces, my mother has since past away and I have had her delft shipped to me in the USA from England 🇬🇧. I really envied your walk around the market. Once again I'd like to thank you for the background on my smcs porcelain tea set I have the sugar bowl as well. European and English china always comes in sets of 6 cups and saucers doesn't it. Have a great week and look forward to the next video.

I have just returned from a thrifting,market trip to London and the Cotswolds. I also went to Rome and Florence with the same person, in May to thrift and flea market shop. She has a KZfaq channel as well, Laura Caldwell with Left Coast Revivals. She and her husband have joined with Trova Trips, and host these trips. My husband and I are joining them in April to go to Japan- Tokyo, Kyoto,and Osaka. Most of this trip is site seeing and food experiences with some vintage and antique markets thrown in as well. Seeing all the knowledge you have here in Germany, makes me think you two could get together, and do a German trip! Anyway, I just wanted to share our new experiences. I live in the Dallas area and have been watching you for awhile now. I went to Spring High school, and lived for 8 years on 1960. I still have family in the Spring and Montgomery area. It is wonderful to see you going to a flohmarkt here in Germany. 👏😊 I speak English, I am learning to speak German and I live in Germany. 😂 It is so nice to hear you speak German. I must say, I have bought the most amazing things at fleamarkets in Germany. Or village fleamarkets. You are right. You must take your own strong shopping bags, newspaper or bubble wrap, comfortable shoes and cash. 😂 I carry this all with me and appropriate clothes for the weather. I have bought lots at the markets. I wrap my goodies well with newspaper I carry, so that I don't smash my goodies while I'm lugging my bags around the market. 😂 I also generally don't bargain with the sellers. Some people do, I don't. Fleamarkets in Germany are not those type of markets where you start to haggle. If a person offers me a lower price out of their own free will, and I want the item I say thank you. Some people get very upset when one tries to haggle. I have seen and heard sellers get very upset. I also think it is how one approaches a seller. They get tired of people trying to make them sell the goods cheaper when the prices are so fair in general. So much work goes into selling at a fleamarket. Sellers have to see many items first to pay for their costs before they even make a profit. One must ask politely if the seller is open to negotiation, let's say if you have bought many items at a stand. Sellers don't like people grabbing things and demanding to pay less. Being polite at all times goes a long way in Germany. Sometimes people give me their price and they can see I like the item but I have not decided to buy it. Sometimes I am simply trying to find out how much something costs because nothing is priced, or I might think it is a fair price, but I just don't have enough money to buy the item. People do ask "what would you like to pay"? I find this tricky. I might only want to pay 1 Euro or 3 Euros when they were asking 12 Euros for a vase. I don't like to offend people. I generally don't fall for that trick. The seller must tell me what their best price is. If they want 12 but are willing to go down to 8 euros, they must tell me. Then I can check my budget for the day and see if I can afford it. It is all about being fair both ways. Oh yes, and have lots of cash and small denominations of notes and coins. You never know what bargains you might find on the day, and not having enough cash with you will ruin your day. I have not seen ATMs at the fleamarkets I go to. And I go to many. And try to get to the fleamarkets early! Every market I go to they start packing from 13h30 /14h00, even if the market is advertised to stay open until around 4 or 5pm. Most sellers really do sell things reasonably and one can also find bargains. I can quickly tell if a seller is expensive or fair. It is all relative to your budget. I find being polite and friendly goes a long way with German people. They respond well when you greet them at their tables. Germany have great fleamarkets during the summer months. I have also gone to flops. One can sometimes pick up items people are gifting for free which is called Zu Verschenken. I also always go out of my way to thank a seller who is giving away free goodies. I feel good and they feel good that someone appreciated the gift. I am truly grateful. Everything I have been gifted I use and is treasured. Thank you to the lovely German people who have this tradition. That is something I love about German people. To everyone coming over to shop at fleamarkets in Germany, enjoy. 😁 The Bratwurst is yum, currywurst und Pommes is yum, with a nice beer if you are not driving! Thanks for another great video. 🌼🌿🙏

I lived in Texas, on lake of the pines and still have a house there but I would gladly spend my summers in Germany to be away from the summer humidity and since we are of German decent on both sides of the family I would love to visit and go to that wonderful flea market. I always enjoyed first Monday.

German summers can be hot, too. Not usually as humid, but no a/c for relief. Best times of the year there are Spring and Fall. Hope you can visit Germany and go thrifting.

OMG I would have lost it there. So many beautiful items here. 28:22 some dishes from Xenia. I have couple of them and love to use them on my balcony. Such a pretty pattern but I guess I would get tired having a whole set of it.

Up next is a consignment shop in Germany that is more like an upscale thrift store. I shopped two more flea markets, but did not film. It's quite challenging to film with privacy laws. Some sellers screamed at me and demanded money for filming their punch bowl or other items. It's not for the faint of heart.

Hello from Québec!!! I always enjoy your videos and in awe of your extent knowledge which makes me appreciate even more my finds! In your last video you mentioned you were to talk about Kaiser vases in more details … will it be in the next one? So looking forward to learn more since I found one in perfect condition for only a few Canadian dollars! 😊 Merci 🙏

Yes, we will talk about Kaiser Porzellan in the next video. So much more I wanted to share, but you will hear some historical tidbits. Could have talked all day about Kaiser. Such an interesting history.

The marble top ''bedside tables'' you showed are actually cabinets used to store the chamber pots when not in use.

This is interesting, because we have these in both our homes. Never thought about the storage area of these side tables. Makes sense now. Have seen one that had a partial porcelain part or base inside. Thanks for your insight into these nightstands.

I bought a set of 6 cut-to-clear wines at another flea market this trip. Keep looking and you will find them at a future sale. Or, travel to Germany where you find them at every vintage market and thrift store. Many were made by Nachtmann in Bavaria.

Any idea of pattern name of Casa Nova shabby chic china?
@LadyMaryBeth
@LadyMaryBeth Жыл бұрын
I looked back at the footage and there is no pattern name. Google Lens did not recognize. The backstamp reads: Casa Nova Home Product Import GmbH. It also gives the street address for the company: Graf-Zeppelin Strasse 5 D-46149 Oberhausen. The D and numbers represent Germany and a zip code. This is a newer set and sold at box stores.

Dear Mary Beth...what to get for newborn baby girl??????
@LadyMaryBeth
@LadyMaryBeth Жыл бұрын
My top suggestions for a keepsake baby girl gift: James Avery birthstone or heart charm, engraved Sterling spoon, Waterford Crystal stem/Sterling flatware piece to start her pattern that you can add to each year, Limoges box, Waterford heart paperweight. Look up her birthstone and flower. This could be honored in many ways.
