I went to a hockey game there during the lock out. The organ was under repair but would be epic for game music

I support the maintenance of this instrument annually and have a tally been privileged to play it int early to mid 80d. "Tim" scolded me for playing if too much like a "church organist!"

Got to play along with the organ next door to this one in the adjacent concert hall. Also very large. A local concert band I was in played the soundtrack to “Ben Hur” and the organ provided incredible bass.

Another good organ to play would be the organ is the Great auditorium in Ocean Grove NJ. It’s huge and dates back to the 1800s. The venue it’s pretty amazing too. Look it up. You won’t be disappointed.

I have to lay ears on this massive beast. I’m a native NJ all life and never have heard it in person yet.

Four years later and the performance is sublime!

The largest pipe organ was temporari build near Lyon. Much less pipes circa 2000 but way bigger. Over 100m long some pipes. That used agrar water pipes and similar. Around 1984 and existed for few years. There is a short bbc info on it. It was student art project for exhibition.

fun fact: the wanamaker in philly is now in a huuuuggggeeee Macy's. the first time I heard it, I was shopping for pants and nearly jumped out of my skin because it is so loud.

Epic yes, it I would have preferred a video of a professional in action ! With the addition of modern music from a wide range of sources like rap, punk, metal, classical, pop, on and on and on !

We used to go to Wanamaker's every Christmas just for the organ concert, it was amazing! Not sure if they still have them. We went in the early 2000s and it was a pre-recorded loop. Disappointing😢
