When del toro sweeps Emily Blount, you could argue that his character doesn't really care if he sweeps someone lol.

I like Blunt's expression when she gets swept, makes me think the whole thing was very deliberate.

The Jeffrey Donovan character was spot on. "You should move to a small town. You are not a wolf, and this is the land of wolves now."

It's actually super impressive how Sicario was able to be this realistic without losing the entertainment factor.

It's fascinating how Larry was able to very quickly single out the SEAL consultants by how their gear was put together and by looking at the brand/model of their weapons.

I noticed the same thing about the Glock disassembly on my second viewing, but I always assumed it was a deliberate choice - that it was a subtle cue to say that Alejandro intentionally had an empty chamber because he never had any intention to kill her. That she really did remind him of the daughter he lost. It's just as likely to be a goof, but I thought it was interesting.

As a former nephew of my Uncle Sam now over 30 yrs ago, the tactical scenes in this movie get my heart racing. I was able to indentify the agencies like you pointed out. Couldn't pinpoint Delta from Seals, but I could tell the servicemen from "contractors", and Feds. The way they treated her in the beginning was on point, from recruiting her, to her first deployment and keeping her distant. Tactics brought back a lot of memories.

Yes! This is without a doubt one of my favorite movies of all time. Absolutely phenomenal movie.

Absolutely love the suspense and buildup in Sicario. They purposefully left out key information for the audience to ponder. Very reminiscent to Silence of the Lambs.

Taylor Sheridan wrote both movies as well as several other great action movies and TV of recent years. He also was a character on Sons of Anarchy, so his gun handling antecedents are well developed. It appears he appreciates good gun handling technique and demands the realism. Another well done episode by you and your crew. Thanks.

Hey Larry, in the tunnels, when they are using the FLIR, you can see the shape of a beretta 92 in the safariland drop leg holster of the delta operator

In the movie, the subtitle translation to "In peace, in peace..." is actually an error. Benicio is not saying "En paz, en paz...", which would actually translate to what the subtitles say. What he's saying is "Compas, compas ... suelta la pistola" which can be translated as "Guys, guys ... put down the gun".

Jeffrey Donovan's character would be a great BBQ host. Everyone gets a second helping.

The examination of the Seals vs Delta is amazing, awesome to see a Delta operator discussing such minute yet distinct points.

I've watched, 1 & 2 over and over. My son in law is a writer and director and I think he told me 3 is finished but I think he's been saying that for a long time. I love Josh Brolin walking around in flip flops. Cinematography is superb and its the same guys the Cohen Brothers use.

Denis Villeneuve is really good at laying the seeds for dread, and just ratcheting it up bit, by bit, by bit...until it finally explodes (in violence, a revelation, or something else).

I knew LV would be interested in the glasses guy. He is everyone's favorite character.

First of all - how can you dislike this video? Larry has a good resume/CV. Second - I love that he picked up on the nuances of SEALs advising the filmmakers versus Delta.

Sicario is cinematic masterpiece the tension the storytelling there are so many elements done masterfully and on top of that having realistic gun fighting is a very rare combo

The weapon shot is such a randomly authentic thing. It's not something you really consider when doing training normally, but when we used simunition the amount of weapon and hand impacts was shocking.

It's kind of old by now but Tears of the Sun would be a good movie to review. I know they had a retired SEAL as their military advisor. And although they were close, our tactics in the army were a bit different. I'd like to know your thoughts on that movie.

Larry - Do Delta guys use their army issued gear when getting loaned out to the CIA, or does the agency supply them with stuff? Maybe thats a reason their gear doesn't line up with delta?

Larry, I want to comment on the first sequence where Emily Blunt and her FBI SWAT team are clearing the drug house. My opinion is from the perspective of a thirty-four year police officer and LE instructor in Los Angeles County. I agree that this is a great film but Blunt and her partner failed to act effectively as a team and used poor tactics when entering the second room. In short, Blunt's character essentially cleared the entire room by herself while her partner hesitated outside the doorway threshold. This gave the suspect armed with the shotgun the complete advantage. If he hadn't hesitated he would have surely killed her. While still in the hallway, Blunt's character crossed over to the far side of the closed bedroom door, positioning herself on the hinged side of the inward opening door and across the entrance from her partner. There are a couple of different methods that they could have used but regardless, she and her partner should have entered the room simultaneously and each should have been responsible for one of the two "hard-corners." This mistake was compounded by the fact that they didn't push the door open all the way, which blocked their view to the right and caused Blunt's character to penetrate too deeply into the center of the room. Entering the room alone, Blunt cleared the left hard-corner and then performed a wide, sweeping buttonhook maneuver, turning 180 degrees. Her weapon's muzzle was the last thing to reach the second (right) hard-corner, where the cartel member was already pointing his shotgun at her. I know that in the scene she dropped to the floor to avoid being shot but in the real world that probably wouldn't have been as effective. That's just my opinion for whatever it's worth. Thanks for doing these film reviews Larry. They're great.

5:56 I was surprised that Larry didn't mention anything on using a working arm to open a window in the car. From what I know and was learned you must not ever use your working arm to do something except for aiming your weapon and be ready. Correct me please if I'm wrong I'm just curious.
