When Bird and Magic came out of college, I didn't like Larry, mainly because of all of the ADDED hype he was getting. But when he put all of that hype to rest and told reporters to stop, and judge him after his career, that's when I had the utmost respect for him. And add that to the fact that he showed he was one of the baddest to ever play the game. He's one of my all time favorites. LEGEND!!!!

There hasn’t been a rivalry in sports to match the 80s Celts vs Lakers since then. One of the reasons is because players are no longer faithful to a team. Both Bird and Magic played for the same team their entire career, as did many of their teammates. That’s how you get that great team basketball

Larry had a choice of taking Study Hall or assisting with my 8th grade P.E. class when he was a senior at Springs Valley High School in French Lick, Indiana. He chose P.E. assistant. When this video shows the Converse commercial of the black limo pulling up at Larry's, that was at his home just outside of French Lick and he and Magic were playing on Larry's outside basketball court (NBA regulation size). As Larry and Magic became friends Larry had a good time showing Magic around. A few years after the Converse commercials, Hollywood came back to French Lick to film the movie "Blue Chips". They filmed a few seconds of it on my parents farm. I have a wonderful photo of my sweet late parents with Nick Nolte. What makes the photo extra special is, they had no idea who Nick Nolte was, they were just being polite.

I love watching this.. such competitors on the court but the camaraderie/ respect they had off the court was the best.

Check out the 1:18 mark and Magic mouthing Bird's "...with the MVP" Classic non-actor move. Will Smith talks about how he did the same thing for the first season of Fresh Prince. He knew everybody's else's lines and you can see him mouthing them in certain episodes. I remember this spot so well. I was a Mavs fan, and I couldn't believe Aguirre made the cut and got to be in this.
