I grew up watching the NBA during the '70's and '80's and any of the young'uns today who say that that era of players couldn't hang with today's players just don't have a clue. The '70's and '80's were the golden years of the NBA. There will never be another rivalry like the Celtics and Lakers of the '80's. 🙏✌️

I think the bank shot 3 was against the Knicks. He made a bet with the Knicks trainer......and the game was a blowout and Bird got taken out during the game. And the trainer said you owe me 20 bucks. Bird was like Oh Damn I forgot. The other team got close, Bird went back in the game and within a couple of plays he banked a three, came over and got payment and stuck the twenty in his sock and kept playing.

Byron is obviously such an amazing man. He has probably told those Bird stories a million times but still says them with enthusiasm . I think you realize he truly appreciated Bird and more than likely admired him as does Doc Rivers. I love his story of when he was with Atlanta and Bird torched them and they got fined for cheering for Bird

Bird just had good court vision and awareness. He knew where to be for the ball. A joy to watch.

The acronym "SHIT" = 'S'hip 'H'igh 'I'n 'T'ransport. This acronym originated from old, old England back when they transported manure on sailing ships. The sailors hung the bags of manure from the ceilings and walls to keep the manure dry.

Fall away bank 3 into the trainer's lap. Bird called it and pulled it off. That's when the guys on the Hawks bench really lost it 🤣🤣🤣

I’m super naïve as I always assumed that my Lakers old and new, especially showtime, were classier because I swear I never heard them curse until these podcasts came out. I’m talking 40 years I never heard them curse until 2022 😂

Larry could talk the talk AND walk the walk. He got into peoples heads and beat them mentally. Plus he was a Hall of Fame level ball player. He had a shot that you could not stop. Plus he could pass and rebound..

"In the trainers lap" - got a bit more literal than Larry intended I suspect - as part of that same game.

What people NEVER talk about is also how slow Larry shoots the ball. No one never talk about it because it either touches the rim or it goes in swish. But look at how long that ball is in the air. . . Pretty long. Look at other videos say his 60 points vs Atlanta & making the bench cheer for HIM. That ball is in the air so long like it's telling a horror story to the opponent every time of "damn that ball is going in the net as slow as Bird"

Bird would've gotten a lawsuit in today's soft league coz he would traumatize and probably make some players cry coz of his trashtalking then backing it up.
