If you think living in a society where child predators are caught and severely punished rather than enabled, as was the case with Nassar, is a privilege, then YES - that is a privilege I'd like in my society. If you don't share that wish, you might have to reflect on your own dark stirrings. Also, don't spew word definitions in a language that you're not able to write well in. It cheapens your argument.
@mermaidgirl52586 жыл бұрын
All societies have allowed this to happen world wide. Stopping child molesters will never end until our judicial systems starts believing the victims. A Pedo can not be rehabilitated! This is why our prisons have specific areas for these offenders. Put them in the general population, they would be dead in a day. So why are we still protecting them?

After bullying I developed severe anger issues, for the next 3 years of my life I kept fighting against myself in my head that I was eating shit during meals. During every moment of those 3 years I also kept fighting against myself in my head that the bullies were sodomizing me and my family members. As a result I couldn't concentrate during exams and classes. I am still having self esteem issues 14 years on from the incident. I went to army and didn't do some admin work due to fighting myself in my head and army people thought I was lazy and thus bullied me as well. This is why I have zero sympathies and zero tolerance for bullies. I am 31 years old and don't even have a wife now, partly sabotaged due to bullying. I went to teach the bullies a lesson, the bullies were so "strong" until they went to call the police LOL, but like I mentioned above, I have zero regrets :)

I spent the entire weekend watching the impact statements, bawled my eyes out and felt as though my world had been rocked, (similar to how i felt on 9/11 and when Lady Di was killed). He never said, "I am so sorry for the pain I have caused. What I have done to you was unthinkable and I wish I could take it all back." What he was really saying was, " I have heard your words and its horrible that you feel this way." Kind of like when you turn an apology around on the person you are supposed to apologize to without acknowledging your wrongdoing. "I believe in what I was doing was right, your interpretation of what was happening or what was said was incorrect. Therefore, you are to blame for feeling the way you do. It saddens me that because of this you feel this way. I did nothing wrong." The devil doesn't even want this sack of skin and water, he is hanging his head in shame.

Melissa Alberts He knows that he has already been excluded forever from human society, with no possibility of rehabilitation and reinsertion, and that the only thing he can hope for is to die in prison after "rotting" in a cell ... He has very little expressiveness, but with such a future, who would have it? And for what?
@Melissa.A6 жыл бұрын
Pablo, I truly do not believe his lack of expressiveness has anything to do with his seeing his future outlook on his life as being useless. I believe it is his last attempt at control over how the public might see him, feel sorry for him, or may view him as a sheepish, older man and put a drop of doubt in the minds of the public. Hoping that some might say, "oh, how could this little thing of a man be able to manipulate so many young girls/women? For sure, some of them may be wrong." May God forgive me, but this man should hang for his crimes.
@pabloquesadamartinez54056 жыл бұрын
Melissa Alberts It may be for the reasons you say, it is also possible that he is a psychopath (someone capable of intellectually recognizing the evil that causes others, but without the ability to feel empathy for his victims, which does not exempt him from responsibility). In any case it is a sad and disturbing story. Personally I do not like the idea of hanging anyone. I think that person is very upset, maybe not sick in the medical sense (although some brain diseases can produce pedophilia, they are not common) but undoubtedly they have a different brain from the rest of the people, and it is very likely that they were born thus (that explains, for example, that many pedophiles are short and left-handed, are characteristics that arise in the first three months of gestation, and possibly also pedophilia) That does not exempt them from criminal liability, but in a certain sense they are also victims, and at the same time guilty. For me, they deserve jail, and also healing (if possible).
@Melissa.A6 жыл бұрын
Pablo, yes, it is a sickness, but a sickness he has been intellectually aware of for a very long time. He was a doctor, so what he did was even more inexcusable. He swore to protect and do no harm. He had more insight and a responsibility to the public to ensure that he seek help. Instead, he made a choice. He chose to continuously place himself in situations that he knew there was a possibility to do harm. Even if he said to himself, "Next time, I will not hurt anyone, next time i will do better." At that point, he had an opportunity to get help. He did not want to risk his reputation. Yes, the truth hurts and quite possibly he could not face it. But he put himself and his well being first instead of his patients, patients who were young girls who trusted in him, had faith in his capabilities and looked up to him as though he was a rock star. There is no difference between what he has done and what a serial killer has done. Both know their propensity to do harm, both place themselves in situations where harm can be done, and especially in Nassar's situation he did all harm knowing his powerful position within the community. He felt he would never be caught and when and if he ever ended up wishing he would be caught, it was too late.
@pabloquesadamartinez54056 жыл бұрын
Melissa Alberts You are absolutely right, and Judge Aquilina told him that, too, that he could have "discreetly" gone to Europe to undergo treatment, as if he had gone to a holiday resort for a while. But there is an additional reflection, which is also done in Europe, on the real possibility that a pedophile seek help to overcome their problem. There are countries, such as the United Kingdom where, if a pedophile who has already committed his crime tells his doctor, he is obliged to report him to the police, which evidently discourages pedophiles for treatment. In other countries, such as Germany, medical secrecy is sacred, and a doctor is prohibited by law from informing a pedophile. And then it also deters the social stigma that pedophilia implies. And it must be said that, in the United States, the background of a sexual criminal is forever published on the Internet; this, in many European countries, is considered inconceivable, and the experts in treating pedophiles put it as an example of what should not be done.

If we were born in his place, if we were led by the wrong influences our life up to this point, would we become just like him? How would we wish him to be treated if this man is my child, my spouse, or my brother? Our immediate response is to unreservedly criticize and punish him. This man has committed a terrible crime and this "apology" is as dry and unregretful as can be. However, know that he is still a human being. In the vast universe, like it or not he is still one of us. From greed, murder, to sexual abuse, in every crime, you'll find that our inability to trouble empathize each other is the source of evil. If we fail to empathize both the victims and the criminal in this sad story, if we don't reflect on what upbringing that has this man onto this corrupted path, we are in a way just like him and we have missing an important learning opportunity. I say, as long as this man doesn't learn from his mistakes, which is likely never, we need to lock him up. But there is no reason to hang him. Maybe we'll get another person to sexually abuse him but only to the extent of revealing to him his victim's feelings. Treat him in the way that we would want for ourselves and want for our children to be treated.

Muhammad Abdul Qaadir that’s not racism, Muslim isn’t a race, it’s a follower of Islam which is a religion, there are Indian Muslims, Asian Muslims, Arab muslims, black muslims, and even a few white Muslims, so that’s not racism
@star_27gaming866 жыл бұрын
Muhammad Abdul Qaadir yeah fine, a typical Muslim wouldn’t defend his actions, but you said that you accept his apology, which really shouldn’t be accepted, considering what he did

In the US there is something you are doing very badly to prevent sexual delinquency, and that despite the fact that you have such harsh sentences for them. However, in the US there is one of the highest levels of sexual crimes among all the OECD countries. On the other hand, the recidivism of sex offenders in the US is enormously high (as of more than 60% if the statistics of RAINN are to be believed). On the other hand, in Europe, countries such as Sweden, Holland, England and Spain apply therapeutic programs based on in the scientific knowledge derived from psychology, criminology and related sciences, and it is achieved that the recidivism of sexual aggressors is as low as 6%. A US may be interested in learning from Europe!

Revenge can be a certain satisfaction for a victim, but society should wonder if the appropriate response for all victims (and here too many of the pedophiles come in) is to make offenders rot in jail to death, or to influence the scientific investigation of the causes of pedophilia to find out how they can be treated for their sexual disorder. Paul Jones is the father of April Jones, kidnapped and murdered by a pedophile in 2012, and says it this way: "People think 'why should we help pedophiles? We should chase them, put them in jail and castrate them.'" But if we offer them help, we may be saving children who have been victims of abuse. "

To reduce the amount of predatory behaviour sentencing one person isn't going to help others who were not attacked by this individual. Getting a conviction takes too long and changing the law to mean less proof is required would risk innocent people to be convicted around treatment. What needs to change are the protocols around treatment. A qualified woman needs to be present for children being given massage and adjustments and examinations. Parents need to be told what behaviours are unacceptable for health practitioners eg home visits. Kids need to be told directly what treatment means and told directly that their breasts and vulva and vagina should not be touched. Officials being told of abuse should be instructed to listen and not immediately make up their minds the complainant is mistaken or lying. It is their duty to pass the complaint onto the police, not a self-regulating sports body.

Out of all those girls there’s wasn’t ONE father willing to commit a crime just to get near him in the county jail during the trial? I swear on everything I love if he did that to my daughter I’d be in that jail sharpening my knife on the floor constructing a plan to get near him. I know he’s probably in protective custody but I don’t care if I had to roll it up and get moved to the PC unit myself or if I had to make up reasons to go to medical every single day in hopes to catch him there…. All it takes it the one mistake by the guards and he’d get his throat opened up properly.

Larry Nassar's fantasies enabled him to do all kinds of things to his victims. It gave him the feeling of power and dominance over them. It's amazing how he got away with it for so long. And it's also amazing how he has been caught. The bad doctor's fantasies have finally caught up with him and started to slip.
