The search engine and the enormously successful company that shares its name were the creation of a pair of Stanford University graduate students still in their mid-20s, Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

It was Larry Page who first hit on the idea of analyzing Internet links to rate their relevance to a given information search. At first Page was only interested in writing a fun and interesting dissertation, but he soon realized his idea had far greater potential. With his classmate Sergey Brin, he presented his work to acclaim at the World Wide Web conference in 1998. Within a year they had raised over $30 million to start a company, Google Inc., providing a free Web search service that can return an ordered list of results in a fraction of a second. The simple white page with the multi-colored logo was an immediate hit with Web surfers around the world. The website generates enormous revenue by providing advertising space linked by content to the results of a given search.
When Page took the company public in 2004, he and Sergey Brin became multi-billionaires overnight. That same year, they joined the select company of Academy of Achievement student delegates who have returned to the International Achievement Summit as honorees of the Academy. Today, Google is the most-used Web search service in the world, conducting more than a billion searches a day, in over 100 languages, and has given the English language a new verb: “to Google.” Larry Page and Sergey Brin have transformed the way the world accesses and uses information.

You both are presumably referring to PageRank. I thought this too until I did further research and saw that on their paper they actually cited Baidu founder Robin Li for his algorithm RankDex. I believe he was working at infoseek.

Once a long time ago, before Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, I, too, wanted to make an effect. I achieved this by blowing air into a circular piece of plastic dipped in soap water I bought at the dollar store. I was promoted arrest for pollution, but then 30 years later I received a medal of recognition.

On top of his obvious genuis, another reason this man is so so successful is because he could sell water to an Elephant. Hes genuine. Genuis but relatable. He did this all as a college student, and at almost the age of 50 hes still the same man he always has been. Thats a large key to success is being multifaceted but still being at the top of the list of everyone and being able to carry all weight at all times it becomes dead weight. Not to mention at 50 hes now pushing positivity and positive life and doing it in real time not just planning for the future. Hes has changed human life forever and if you listen to him speak hes always pushed positivity, thats a winning push to any present or future. Think if our politicians learned from guys like Larry. He could teach them all about there being no necessity for wars if they took even a single page from Larrys book. Unfortunately most Americans idolize and put their whole lives in the hands of rich power, war hungry martyrs. Think if Larry was president how much life would actually change for THE GOOD.

But they are the forces that jumpstarted AI into existence, and loaded its brain with an absolute wealth of knowledge.
