Vegas used to be a great bargain vacation destination. Cheap food, great restaurants at fantastic prices, cheap hotel rooms, big name entertainment at reasonable prices, no resort fees, no parking fees, lots of give-a-ways. Every hotel had a grand buffet and many times it was buy one, get one free dinners. 99 cent ham breakfasts and steak dinners between 11p.m.-7a.m. Great lounge acts. It was FUN, FUN, FUN! Vegas has become WAY TOO GREEDY, WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. Bring back the deals like they were years ago. Reopen the buffets. People gambled more, spent more money years ago. After people spend $100-$200 night for lodging, $100-$200 steak dinners, over-priced entertainment on top of their airfare to get there, ...people have little money to spend on gambling. It's just simple economics. Unfortunately, Las Vegas has lost its glamor, fun, excitement and mystique. Vegas has become too corporate instead of being personal. The downturn will continue until Vegas makes the decision to go back to a reasonable destination AND player/customer friendly.

I think it has alot to do with the changing demographics. Back then, the casinos made all of their money on gambling earnings and were able to make alot of other experiences cheap. Now with the audience changing to a younger non-gambling generation, they need to make money by charging for the experiences they had sold at discounts in the past.

I remember back in the 90s and early 2000s you could be a regular working stiff and afford to stay on the strip in Vegas and do a little gambling. We would play $2 and $3 Blackjack at Caesar's Palace all day. We could make side bets for the dealers frequently and kept the pit boss in good spirits, so we would usually get comped for breakfast or lunch. Not to mention lots of free booze. A room at Caesar's was $60. Now you would be lucky to find a $25 table and the rooms are hundreds of dollars plus resort fees.

Just people dressed up walking to where they needed to go. No smiles, no selfies, just a bland ass vibe. They looked at me like, "Ew, there's delivery people here? 🤭". That might work in Miami, but a casino in Vegas needs to be approachable for everyone and needs to attract gamblers. I played blackjack for a little while, but it wasn't a comfortable environment and I felt uncomfortable being dressed in ralph lauren polo and jeans. So many thoughts. 1. They couldn’t accommodate their performer with a room? 2. Vegas is fun. I don’t know why they’re trying to change it but people don’t go to Vegas to stay at a hote they could’ve stayed at in Miami. The themes and glam is what people come to see. 3. For a project that was 23 years in the making it was very underwhelming and seem to be an amateur knockoff of the Cosmopolitan. 4. The prices are absolute ridiculous. They’re attracting rich people who makeup a small percentage of the world. That’s why it’s so empty.

Quite a few of my coworkers choose to leave the company I work for for this place, and regrettted it soon after when the property began to lay people off. The problem is that the company that owns it over-estimated what Vegas was about. They view us as luxurious destination, which to be fair we were at one point, but that isn't really the case much anymore. While some people will never admit it: Vegas is not the casino destination it used to be, not once other states started to legalize it. The industry here is dying a very slow death, and we can see this with some of the older casino's closing up shop. Heck, I see it even at the property I work at; according to one coworker who has been working there for twenty years, it used to be full of people all the time - even in the late hours of the night - now? The number of people you see slowly trickles downwards until just after 3am you will hardly see anyone *except* locals who are loyal to either those properties or companies. Frankly Vegas needs to get a new industry put in place, according to some in the city, within the next thirty years the Casino industry will no longer be viable here.

@@josephgabriel2336 Of course it's bad, the casino industry hasn't exactly done anything to give those of who work for them any reason to view them in a good way. Security keeps people safe and protects the money, while Engineering maintains the building and the hardware) So ya, my view of that industry is bad and for good reason.
