Bought your file, but my engraving isn't coming out as dark as yours. I've got a Thunder 51/100. Tried at your 600/50 and also dropping the power a little to compensate for the higher wattage, but it's not coming out as dark. Any suggestions?

Interesting. On your 100W machine, you should be able to set the power at about 40 and get similar results as ours on 50. Did you have your air turned on/off? We have the air turned off for engraving, which is actually low-pressure air.

I’m very new to the laser world and just got a Bolt. I cannot even figure out pencil engraving. I was told to toggle off high air, but use low air when engraving. How is this done?

So, you toggle air on and off in LightBurn, on your layers panel, where your settings are. But keep in mind, the Bolt only has one air control. It does not have dual air assist like the Nova series machines.

I had issues with setting the start point, trying to use center left so as to make centering the text easier and then re-watched you video. I redrew my jig with the start point in the center - with the two crosshairs at either end and viola, success.... For the first test run, after cutting out the pencil slots, I just left them in place instead of using pencils. I kept the focus height the same as the 3mm Basswood as it was the same height as the main jig. A few days ago I finished my laser crosshair mod and used alien tape on the left side of the laser head - 22 watt Alpha, and after calibrating the laser offset, aligning my projects is easy peasy. I used a USB "power cord" and since the laser crosshair only draws about 20 mA, (.1watt), I could use a 500 ohm pot to dial in the brightness. The 500 ohm pot dims to just barely visible to full on. When the crosshair is just a bit above visible, it is EASY to see the intersection of the laser beam. Thanks again for you video that got me on track to use a center starting point....

Would these engraving settings work on a Burnlab A10 Pro? It’s a 10W laser?

I'm certain you would have to find different settings. I'm pretty certain that is a diode laser....and I have no clue about settings on those. Wish I could help.

Thank you. It is a self-seal 4X9 bag from Amazon as well as a 3.5X6 Card that I fold and stick in the bag.

Does this process also apply to any laser machine (chinese) running CorelLaser?

The process should be the same...as long as you can set origin points to tell your laser where to start. Of course, your settings would all be different. Of course, I am only really familiar with Thunder Lasers and Glowforge. That's all I've ever used.

I believe you can use something like Silhouette studio or Inkscape to add your own names in there.

Depends on what you are referring to. The score and cut settings for MDF is at 2:14 in the video. The engrave settings for the pencils are at 9:08

A couple of observations. Instead of deleting the "guides", you could/should have just turned off "output" and "show" in the layer controls. The number of pencils in this example are for b@lls to the wall engraving, where, a normal project would/should have allowed spacing for small, thin, round magnets to make sure the slots are firmly in contact with the honeycomb bed. Depending upon the thickness of the jig material, magnets may be a necessity.

You are correct in the fact that we can just turn off the output of the guides....we do that now. However, the point of this jig is to do several pencils and to make it repeatable and consistent. When we normally do pencils we are doing like 10+ dozen at a time....so all of these spaces are kinda needed. We've considered making a larger jig to do even more! By pinning down the edges of the jig, magnets are not needed for the slots. It works perfectly fine.
