Nice job, looks good. If you're going to have "happy accidents" you ought to get a Bob Ross curly perm.

That would be a funny option for a hairstyle. I'd have to work on a monotone delivery. Thanks for watching.

Steve, I picked up a four pack of clear "acrylic" and stand lights to engrave on. I used the wood back and burnt through the clear to the wood. It put the image on, but I kept hearing the "Acrylic" pop and snap. Every time it left a burn mark as well as pop in the "Acrylic". The reason for the quotes is I have done other acrylic and made earrings etc. without that problem. I am using a 20watt head and had it set for 50% power and 70 speed. What kind of acrylic do you use and where do you get it to do these? PS Love the mirror. I have a couple in the shop now to play with and will try your settings too.

I made a video about engraving LED nightlites. You should watch it for a little info about trying to engrave clear acrylic. I'm going to make a new video today trying to incorporate the techniques I've used on glass to try and improve on my clear acrylic technique. I'm going to start sharing my power and speed settings used in each video. But, you should be aware, they won't work for you. I'm currently using the 10 watt module. The speeds will work but you will need to cut the power in half. Here is a link to my LED video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g9-jdqSjlrytZI0.html Thanks for watching subscribe and sign up for notifications to be sure you don't miss the new video on clear acrylics.

Put craft paper on the back. You could change colors whenever you want.

Steve, can you remove the back of a mirror with any laser engraving machine? Or does it have to be special one?

There are different types of mirrors, silverplated, mylar, plastic, etc. Each type is going to respond differently. Test, test, and test to determine what works. It is truly the only way to learn your lasers capabilities. You should have success. But which mirror type, speed, or power? Only testing will tell.

Nice Steve! Before you sprayed the back of the mirror, did you leave or remove the backing?
@HoboWithWood
@HoboWithWood 2 жыл бұрын
I did not. Your better quality mirrors use a silver plating process to produce the mirror effect. This particular mirror used some type of sticker, possible mylar, to create the mirror. In either case, no I simply lay the mirror face down and start burning. It's the action of the laser burning away the backing material that creates the image from the front. Have fun experimenting and share your results. Thanks for watching. Subscribe if you found the video or my comments helpful.

Just wondering if you have cut mirrored acrylic. Can’t seem to get my settings right to cut it with my x tool d1 10 watt laser.

You're the second person this week to ask about mirrored acrylic. I'm going to have to do a video explaining why I think you're having trouble with mirrored acrylic. It's my understanding a blue diode laser passes through a clear substance like glass and clear acrylic like it's not even there. In order to engrave a clear piece it has to have another layer to interact with. When I engrave clear glass, I put a layer of tape on the surface. The tape stops the laser from simply passing through. When I emgrave clear acrylic, I place it on a freshly primered piece of steel. The reaction of the laser hitting the primer engraved an image on the underside of the acrylic. The laser passes through the acrylic and reacts with the primed suface. I think the reason you're have trouble cutting mirrored acrylic is it is essentially clear acrylic with a mirrored backing. The laser is interacting with the mirrored backing until it has burned through it. Leaving you with what I expect is a partial cut or melted mess. I don't think cutting mirrored acrylic is an option for diode laser users. I do, however, have a really cool idea for using the clear acrylic. Going to have to get my hands on a piece and give it a try. Check out my videos on engraving clear acrylic. It might give you an idea or two. But cutting mirrored acrylic I think is an impossible task. Thanks for watching.

@@HoboWithWood I’ll try anything I have some cool ideas for it I have people that want to see my concept and idea. It would be a good money maker for me. I seen another KZfaqr do it but he did not explain it. Haven’t got a reply. Your videos have been a huge help and I’m very great full for your time and info.
