I just upgraded my laser and got similar attachment. Your video showed better steps than the manufacturer (HV302) . I am a framer, so I tend to use level/plumb more than slopes. However, that is about to change. I learn by doing, and like watching experienced operators to expedite my learning curve. Thanks!

That’s lots more high tech than the old NI2 Zeiss optical level I used shooting grade for the highway dept. ! No field books and calculators needed, I like that. The old Zeiss levels are wonderful cutting edge German technology back in the 1950s, I still have one today I bought after I retired

Lasers were new and expensive 26 years ago when I dug my first footing, back then we had two grade men, optical instruments were about all anyone used. I’m not sure I could do the math required for the zeiss you used. Things have changed a lot in a few years that’s for sure!!! But I bet the Zeiss you have is more dependable than any new laser today.

If I had it to do over I would get the Topcon magnet receiver, the spectra I have seems a bit on the cheap made side.

Hello very helpful video, you let us see the real life with a laser and receiver. Thank you very much. I just purchased a receiver from Leica, it’s said to be able to receive any rotative laser, I will check that. My laser is not rotating, it’s a Chinese green plane laser, but it has blinking function

I have got the exact same machine laser receiver! It is brilliant.. You have two settings for the brightness on the lights, bright, and fucking silly!! You can see it easily enen in bright sun. You CAN set it to work like any laser receiver, and it works VERY well at this, but, when you use the machine setting the receiver sets itself up as follows: The top red light means you are too high, the bottom red light means you are too low, with green being on grade. The clever bit is, there will be no lights on if you are miles too high. When you get within about 6 inches of grade the top red light will start to flash. When you are about 2 inches from grade, it will come on with a steady light [so you know you are very close] and then when you are within between about 3/32 to 3/8 of grade, [depending on how you set the sensitivity control] the green light will come on. I love mine! It was about £335 here in the uk, be the same in dollars over there i suppose. A spectra cr600 i think it is called. REALLY good bit of kit.. My laser will do slopes in two planes, AND, you can lay it on its side and set out right angles too.. It has a range of about 330 yards so you could be anywhere in a near 700 yard diameter circle and still use it.. It is a Leica 640 and it came with a remote control so you can easily set grades with it. Was about £1050 of our uk pounds as i remember, so again, about the same in dollars in the US i would think..

Just curious what is that right of the satellite dish back in the woods. Something lighter colored. Another success story. Thanks for the videos.

I had to do something like that one time. I had to fix a detention basin and they called for a 1% slope in the bottom and set a laser up like you did. Rented a 329f long reach hoe and worked it all from the banks. Wish i had the magnetic receiver like you have though. I had a grade guy but it was pretty soft in there and he had a hard time getting around sometimes. some pics on my instagram i believe

The mag mount is pretty handy, have used it on dozer blades and even the backhoe front bucket for leveling building pads. Some of the more expensive lasers can dial in the slope, but this one is good enough for most dirt jobs.

Good video. Could I tack weld a square tube on the excavator and then attach my laser to it and make it work?? Hate to spend money on the magnetic one.
@Digginok
@Digginok 2 жыл бұрын
You could, but the magnetic receiver is built for shock loads. Use caution
