I bought a Platinum LED red light lamp for some neuropathy I had. My chiropractor recommended it. Since I had it anyway I figured I would try it for my hair loss. From what I’ve heard, red light only restores 35% more hair. It doesn’t bring everything back. I would say this is true for my experience. Did it bring everything back? No. However my hair is thicker now than it was 2 years ago. My hair is the thickest it’s been in the last 15 years or so. You can still tell I have thinning hair but it has improved substantially. Less of my scalp is visible than it was before and my ponytail is noticeably thicker. Hair barrettes that used to slip out of my hair now remain firmly in place, in fact my hair is now almost too thick to use them. My hair fall has substantially decreased as well. I have also heard that minoxidil only works for less than half of the people that try it. I’ve tried it twice and didn’t see much if any improvement. More recently, I have made a point of eating more animal based protein and now my hair fall has plummeted even more. Hair loss is such a complex problem with so many different causes. There’s so much trial and error involved in figuring out what works best for you.

Hello! Thank you for all your awesome content. This is the most informative channel on youtube on hairloss and hair restoration also done by an experienced surgeon that actually does himself the procedures. I was wondering, did you happen to see studies done for redensyl, procapil, baicapil, capixyl - some emerging compounds for hairloss, although maybe not as potent as the medicines like finasteride and minoxidil, for some people, especially in those that start to observe their receeding since the first phases and have a family history of androgenetic alopecia, but still, maybe they can somehow help preserve hair alongside with the laser option.

Thanks for the review, I agree LLLt is a real option. I tried a couple of them, including the one that costs 1,200$ ... which died on my around the 1 year mark. Since I saw great results and did not want to pay that much again, I opted for the Bold Laser Hair Cap... Gave me similar results (speed of hair growth) and maintained my previous progress... while saving me like 900$.

I had some hair thinning about 3 months after covid. I even had a spot that was almost completely gone. I tried minoxidil and it caused severe itching flaking and burning. I hD gotten a small red light therapy device for pain---- it looks like a mini flashlight. I dont know why but I decided to try it on my head . I do it when I'm decompressing in the evening and I just sort of lay on my bed close my eyes and think. I've been using this light everyday for between 10 to 30 min and I have all kinds of baby hairs growing. I've been at this for 2 weeks and some of these hairs are almost an inch and some are about 1 and a half centimeters. The hair shedding I was experiencing has been slowing down to almost normal. .....and after covid it was a lot. Overall I lost about half my hair and it happened in a vouple of showers. I was scared to see such large amounts if hair fall and had to unclog the shower drain several times which until then I had never had to unclog a shower drain. There was hair all over my pillow and kept tickling my arms as it fell through the day. I was devistated

But back then there was no clear winner. Now we are May 2023, do you have differnt recommendations now? Especially when it comes to efficacy, also skintype V (mine) as you mentioned up till then it's only for I-IV. (Nd-YAG lasers are suitable for dark en and very dark skin having also infra red in it). Dr. Linkov. I've had one FUE transplant 10 years ago. Age 58. That procedure worked well. I was thinning as I got older but not completely bald. The follow-up protocols for me are Revian Red (10 mins per day); Oral minoxidil/finasteride/biotin, made by a compounding pharmacy and taken daily, and once a week derma rolling. My hair looks great and I haven't noticed any side effects. Perhaps you can comment in a future video about oral minoxidil/finasteride/biotin and its efficacy as I've read recently in the NY Times about how powerful the combination can be. I'm a testament to consistency and not waiting too long to begin treatment. All the best.

I use the Revian Red in concert with 2X daily minoxidil protocols. I'm 58 and my three brothers are all bald and I still have my hair. The treatment seems to work if done consistently. I can't say I've had major regrowth but I can say that my hair, for my age, has pretty good coverage. I have no doubt I would be close to bald at this point without that active planning many, many years ago. Minoxidil began about 12 years ago and Revian Red about 15 months ago. 10 mins per day with Revian Red.

I manufacture a lot of these devices, it falls into PBM (photobiomodulation) or PBS which Gary mentioned. It seems it's a good complimentary treatment, but not a stand-alone treatment. The short is that it increases blood-flow and healthy cellular function so it's only good.

my dad uses those laser caps. it's funny because he always has a buzz cut... like super short hair so you can't even tell his hair is thinning. 😂

Hey Dr Gary, how about the Celluma Face Panel?. I started using it on my hair but I was inconsistent, however I'm about to pick back up and stick with it. I was told by Celluma it would help over a period of 9 months with usage time every other day. I can tell you the Near Infrared is 880nm and Red Light is 640mn. It also has "PULSE" mode which I never have switched off personally. The treatment time is 30 minutes per session also this specific device does use blue light as well and uses all 3 diodes simultaneously so they're all on at the same time. I don't think the blue would be an issue for the scalp as obviously it has an anti bacterial effect, I just wanted to point that out. I would be really grateful if you could let me know what you think on this Device and the said NM of both Red & Near Infrared this device uses regards efficacy for potential hair restoration?. TIA
