You the Man! I dropped a lifter in my Escape 3.0 DOHC and could not find any info on replacing them. I was told I had to pull the timing chain and cam! THANK YOU!!

@teamevocustoms - If you made sure to fully bleed the lifters, it could take a couple hours to a couple days for the ticking to go away. I think mine took about 2-3 days.

Sorry but do you mean to bleed the new lifters or what, I’m doing a lifter and rocker arm job to my 2012 Equinox 2.4L, could you please explain?

What's the name ofvthe tool? I can't find anything like it anywhere. From the looks of it, it should also work on the 5.4 3v.

On my Evo 9, the area between the cam lobe and the cam bearing cap is very thin. Would this tool work on the other side of the cam lobe?
@snowborder7147 жыл бұрын
Honestly not sure - I've only used the tool on DSMs.
@BrownParticles7 жыл бұрын
snowborder714 you wouldn't happen to be in so cal oc with that 714 area code would you?
@snowborder7147 жыл бұрын
Nope, that's not an area code. I'm on the east coast. I don't see why the tool wouldn't work as it's a Mitsubishi tool and not DSM specific. The Evo/DSM heads are pretty darn similar and the tool is pretty thin. I'm guessing you should be able to get it to work in some way. Check on eBay for one if you want (that's where I got mine).

i thought bleeding lifters is having to do with getting them in a bowl full of oil and making sure they are full of it and as a result they become rock solid?!
@josephmelville95568 жыл бұрын
when those litters start making noises its because your oil is contaminated i am sure after replacing one another is going to start making noise

how do you bleed the lash adjusters?
@gijo50886 жыл бұрын
i would get a cup of your engine oil and prime each one by pushing down on that button while submerged.
@edforthewin85748 ай бұрын
For real, why do you need to bleed them for??? The new ones???

Check my channel, you will see a video I did of removing the rockers with a flat head and removing the lash adjusters with curved needle nose.
@FuelAirSparkTime4 жыл бұрын
One thing nobody ever mentions.. this piece of crap tool will scratch your cylinder head to pieces where it rubs off of the wall around the valve spring. It's practically unavoidable if you have any trouble getting the rockers out
@brianloose10734 жыл бұрын
If you aren't very careful about placement, this is true. I take my time when removing them and make sure placement is exactly where I want it. I've had to readjust a few times on a single spring as it just didn't sit properly or feel good when prying.
@FuelAirSparkTime4 жыл бұрын
@@brianloose1073 it will do it regardless most likely because you can't see where it's actually scratching till it's too late. The problem is when the rocker arm doesn't easily pop out when the spring is compressed and you have to repeat attempts, are the same time the lifters pump up and harden making it more annoying. The position of the cam lobes are also never discussed. You can't slide a lifter out with the lobe facing the same side. I just did this today and it's so annoying that nobody mentions the finer points. Or maybe I just have bad luck
@gijo50886 жыл бұрын
fuck that tool. what happens if your valve is stuck a bit and you push spring down? you're screwed when those valve locks pop out and the valve drops into the head.. if you use this tool I suggest you hook a cylinder pressure checking tool into the spark plug hole and use your air compressor to push air into the chamber.. so it keep valve pushed up .. this is a VERY chancy way to do this... don't be a victim!
