I love the Pomodoro Tech. I have tuned my learning style to get the most Active Learning time tweaked using the PT. I wish I had learned about VARK and learning strengths when I was an undergrad.

Thank you so much for this video. I still have 2 more years to go before I take step 1 but It's nice to see how people are preparing for USMLE. As I'm still acquiring knowledge for step 1, I personally found lecturio more useful that other popular resources. I just love how easy and accessible the platform is. Highly recommend it to everyone in their early stages of step 1 preparation

yeah Lecturio works well for me too. Also, I would suggest you to use it along with First Aid and make notes in there. I know there are many students who don't really like such thing, but it works really well for me

Hardly! It took me over 1 year to pass my NBME comp exam before I was eligible to register for Step 1. If you scroll back far enough on my page, you can see my videos about that :)

Hello.i watched your strategy several times and tried it by my own.id does help a lot.at least for me.but I have a problem in figuring out the day when I should review material after a week.i mean,I review what I learned the day before but I have to remember which pages in fa and which notes I have to review. How did u keep track?U had a schedule or something else?Thank you. Have a great weekend
@Medumentary
@Medumentary 6 жыл бұрын
I just put a check mark beside my notes every time I reviewed it. If it was missing any check marks, then I knew I needed to study it again. I based what I needed to review in FA off of that as well.

Congratulations! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. QUESTION: Did you do the Kaplan 4 hour per video (approx) series while prepping earlier on? If yes, was it really helpful?
@Medumentary
@Medumentary 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The only ones I used were the 2010 version so they weren't 4 hours long each. They were really helpful AS I was learning things in class (mainly as a substitute for not learning things very well in class) but as a review for Step 1, no, too long

@@Medumentary Thanks for the reply! :) Around how much time would it take you to review each NBME? I have about a month left now, and my schedule is a little similar to yours so was wondering how much time I should spend on reviewing them with only 4 weeks to go

did u find that the actual test wasnt too bad, like the words & what they were tryna ask made sense after this spaced repition?
@Medumentary
@Medumentary 6 жыл бұрын
I didn't feel like I was failing miserably while taking it, but the test pretty much felt like 7 blocks of UWorld in all honesty. I walked out feeling like I passed, but very uncertain by how much.

How long did you end up taking between your COMP exam and STEP?
@Medumentary
@Medumentary 5 жыл бұрын
About 2 months. I wanted to take it within 1, but it took a few weeks to get the permit from ECFMG required to book the exam. By the time I received it, the only available test dates nearby were another month away.

It changed the more I studied. Sometimes reviewing 1 block could take up to 3-4hrs. By the end when my scores were better it only took me 1 hour.

Medumentary I have to go back and listen to your video you said in your video you said you go over-some material 2 or 3 times which material is that? Q-bank explanations or your own review notes?

Medumentary I’m talking about on the video 1:36 you go over each block of questions 3 times 120 questions you review three times?
@Medumentary
@Medumentary 5 жыл бұрын
@@wyvilboy I just realized I never responded to this. SO SORRY!! I would review the day's bullet point notes on 2-3 separate occasions. Eg. the notes I made for today, I would quiz myself on later that same day, then the next day, then a few days after that, and sometimes another week after for maximum retention. So every day I was spending a few hours reviewing my notes for about 3 different day's worth of UW notes. I only wrote notes on Qs I got wrong or guessed on, so about 20-40 out of the 80Qs done daily

I notice that you mentioned in one of your videos that pathology was your hardest subject. It is also very hard for me becuase I have a lot of trouble memorizing the symptoms for the diseases. Once I figure out what disease it is I remember the pathophysiology well but I just can't memorize the symptoms for each disease. any tips on how to approach this. also do you think pathoma has all the pathology.pathophysiology that we need for step 1 if we also use uworld. thanks, I am currently studying for step 1

Hey! I made a video about it a year ago, go find it and it might help you out :) Pathoma + UW + FA is plenty enough for Step 1 pathology
