Sometimes the walleye can be tough when the water gets cold but it feels like a nice accomplishment to get a few in the snow. The cooking spray actually worked really well to keep my line and guides from icing over. I'm sure it worked well for your lure mold as well. Thanks!

Thanks, it was a fun year and I'm thankful for all the people I met and got to interact with. I'm glad I at least got to see a big walleye being caught during these outings. I had a gut feeling I might hit one myself if I stayed there long enough but it wasn't to be. Next year!

Thanks, once I saw Mike catch the big one I thought I might get one too. But I was glad to catch the ones I got. The cooking spray does seem to help. The day before I started using the cooking spray my braid was getting stiff and I had some really bad tangles because of it. I searched online and found guys using the spray. It seemed to reduce the ice on my guides by 75% or more. The biggest difference was on the line - it didn't get stiff anymore and I didn't have any problems with tangles. I think it works.

Yes, I think you know where this is! It's a peaceful time to fish. The crowds are gone and if you're lucky a huge walleye will show up.

Yes, I really like this one. Interesting scenery and you never know what you will catch. The walleye were stacked, I hope next time I will hit a big one!

This spot on both sides of the river is usually on fire from April - June. Fish of all species are making their spawning runs from the Mississippi during that time and the result is great fishing. Unfortunately, it is very crowded during those times but you can find a lot of sneaky eddies and current breaks downstream that most people don't fish. These spots can be as good or better than the dam if you find the right one. Yes the train tracks are good as well. This spot doesn't fish as well during the summer but picks up again in Oct - Nov.

The cold weather is coming for sure! Not sure about more snow. live2_fish_2live is on instagram. I just tried to google him and he is tougher to find than you would think. He catches big fish about every day and is very active on instagram so definitely worth a follow. I was working on my bass notes this trip. No one was around and the snow cover really dampens the sound and makes for some good acoustics. If the forecast holds I should be ice fishing by this time next week.
