So beautiful...this is my story about this song... My dad was a jazz pianist performing and making 3 LP's in the late 50's / 60's. At the age of 15 I became a drummer for him traveling to various shows around South Africa. At the age of 16 I herd him playing it on the piano exactly as the mystro (Floyd Cramer) sounded, I just fell in love with that tune immediately. At the age of 18 was drafted into the army. The hour before my departure to board the train, I pulled my dad aside and asked him to just sit at his piano and play me "The Last Date" before I left. Which he did and we hugged and said our goodbyes. Needless to say that turned out to be our "Last Date". My amazingly talented father sadly passed away while I was serving in the army at the age of only 42 in 1972. So thank you for playing that song just as your grandfather did, I'm not sure where you are nowadays but just stumbling on this was so special to me...I am now almost 70, still drumming and still miss my ol pops terribly ...go well...

This is a iconic song of Floyd Cramer. I remember when I was 17, and my girlfriend’s brother played this song on a small record player. I haven’t seen one of those in about 40 yrs. I I was such a good person and I love music. As I got older I realized that the American way of life was disappearing. I didn’t understand what was going on, but now I realize that the much as things change, they stay th same. I am old now, but this song is a way of taking a time trip, back to when people were mostly civil, but everyone had a much kinder way, and that I will always greater. Mr. Coleman, you do Grandad a great job in preserving his legacy. God bless you; being kind and considerate and helping others will never be unpopular. I think society has to recalibrate, and the pitfalls of society will not be as deep and hurtful. People are hurting enough these days, but you are never really alone when you have music.

I lost my wife at the tender age of 65 in May last year and this came up on my FB page this morning and I cant get it out of my head. It reminds me of all the great times we had together over that past 16 years and and that our last date was in the hospice together where she died in my arms. My eyes are leaking while i write this. Thanks for a lovely tune.

I’ve loved this song since I was a kid. Just listened to this video after seeing your granddad’s name mentioned on ‘Country Music’ show on LPB. Still love it. First time it made me cry though. My first time listening to it after losing my Mother. It was more their music at the time, I just loved this song. First time I saw a picture of your granddad as a young man also on the country music show. He was always older in anything I had seen him in. I was born in 1959. I remember his name and that song mentioned in an interview with a talented piano player who had played with many well known bands, something about playing 2 songs at the same time in that song, (I’m not a musician).
