That’s a hard stance to take. It talks about a mighty change of heart. The savior commanded us to love our neighbor as he has lived them. That’s mighty!! We have examples of miracles, angels, and voices but doctrine and Christ says don’t expect this type of thing to make a mighty change. Alma prayed for 3 days before his change. That’s some mighty praying and that’s what it took to receive his change. There also is no formula for these changes because they are all different. Prophets have said to repent daily, that’s mighty in the long run but not immediate. Be careful with expectations.

I think both happen. But even the big ones end up needing to renew and maintain. King Benjamin is very clear about that, and I would be absolutely shocked if they never ever had any desire to sin ever again. But they were definitely changed, and that is amazing! They were not fully sanctified, so they certainly still needed more changing of heart afterwards too. But big ones are real, and small ones are real.

@@TheScripturesAreReal Kerry - yes, I agree with that. The scripture in D&C 93:11-13 talks about receiving grace for grace, which is what we get every day that we keep the commandments from Christ, but then we should seek to move from grace TO grace and that is what Christ does for us that we cannot do, and then we are at a new level (through a significant event that truly changes us). That is a mighty change that we must maintain until we are changed again, and so the process continues: there are events that change us, and then there is the process. Today in the church, we have people teaching that there is NO event (I have even heard this from general authorities in general conference), and this is NOT what the scriptures teach. It is a process, and it is just the same one that Christ went through until he received a fullness (of course he was much faster). I appreciate your teachings.

@@nuthintoprove I agree with you that these mighty change experiences are not always the same for everyone, but there are groups like King Benjamin's, the day of Pentecost, the people in the prison with Nephi and Lehi, and probably others who all received this mighty change together. I think we can have an expectation that these experience are available to anyone, just like the scriptures teach: God is no respecter of persons, and he is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We can seek for these great experiences and expect to receive whatever God knows is for our best success, but it will be mighty, and you will be a new creature.
