The way he speaks and the way he cry “Greeks!, brothers!”.. I’m wondering about all the Greek soldiers and civilians back then how they felt.. very motivating and scary in the same time.. The Greeks are indeed very special to me, the word Hellenic sounds very royal and prideful. Sadly they have been betrayed by the world over and over again.

It hurts when he says, "it won't be Greek, it will be German", doesn't it? As if, we need to take our last breath, be clean, receive a beautiful death and off to meet our ancestors in Hades. One might think, today's Greeks wouldn't have the face to meet them deep within Tartarus, but that's clearly not the case. We did what we could, given the current status quo. By the way, what happened, happened. We don't hate anyone, nor do we hold a grudge. We wrote the how-to play the Empire with her Protectorates. Thucydides. We know very well how the world runs. Not much have changed since the Peloponnesian wars. The same motif kept repeating by other countries who adopted our great heritage. We're at least the cradle of Western Civilization and proud of this. Today, we might be a simple Protectorate, but C'est la Vie. Let's make the best out of it.

I can't tell you how heartbreaking this is. My maternal grandmother was born in Salonica (Thessaloniki). Most of our family was wiped out by the German monsters. I learned Greek and went to Greece as a young man. But a year before that, when the accursed fascist junta fell in 1974, I was in midtown Manhattan, and began crying for joy. I jumped in the fountain on Columbus Circle. I called my mother to tell her. The Parthenon is everything that the fascists are not. Zito i eleftheria!
