We hit the hard deck at one of the most popular Ice Fishing spots in Utah at Strawberry Reservoir. Ice fishing in mid April is always a blessing to still be able to get out on the ice for one last go around at our favorite winter hobby. We found success between 15-20 FOW jigging with a neon green paddlebug, green and white tube jigs, and a gold jigging spoon. No worms, powerbait, or any other baits were used which is unusual for this body of water.
Ice was still about a foot thick but softening up a lot and getting slushy, make sure to check conditions if you try to go up again this year, a lot of people have tossed in the towel, only saw two other groups up there all day. At the start of the day I attempted chicken creek east and the edges were all but gone with a small rock going right through the ice and not close enough to test leaping over. The ladders have open water now. The Marina was safe but edges were also starting to go and are probably not too safe anymore.
