Күн бұрын

I begin this last instalment of my European trip in Falaise, I head off in the van to Bayeux, where I go for a walk around the town and local area. As I think is probably true for about 99% of people, I knew one thing about Bayeux before visiting, and it was that they made a mighty fine tapestry there a long time ago. Upon visiting Bayeux, I found that my only prior knowledge of the place was inaccurate, the tapestry is in fact not a tapestry at all, and was actually made in England, anyway, a very nice English embroidery it is. I finished the first day of the video in Honfleur, and decided to walk across a very big bridge as I quite like very big bridges. From Honfleur I went on to Jumieges and Amiens across the final couple of days of the trip, going for very enjoyable bike rides in both places.
I absolutely loved this trip, and given I set off with no preconceived ideas of where I wanted to go or what I wanted to do (a lack of planning which I normally find very stressful), I couldn’t have hoped for a more enjoyable 2 months away.

Late to the party again... Hi Mat, great wrap-up video to this tour. I kind of feel sad that it's now over, starting and finishing in France as it did gave me great memories. Thanks again for the Castelnaudary clip. See you in America soon, cheers 👍

@@matryderadventures Hi Mat. Unfortunately no, not for those reasons, although I did have a couple of nights camping and cycling around the Scottish Borders last week. I'm also going back up there next week for three days doing a different route so that'll give me something to smile about. Yes, looking forward to those videos. Cheers .

Curious to see how well you do climbing while in the TransAm. The gearing on this bike is a quest mark for me (going by traditional “gear inches”, it’s not getting at or below the desired 20).

I very much enjoyed the series. It’s just fascinating how those cathedrals could’ve even been built, considering the scale and the stone construction. I hadn’t had the chance to visit France, but was in Spain for a little over a week. The difference in architecture just from Barcelona to Madrid was so different. I wish I had spent more time there. I’ll be looking forward to your future episodes. Best Wishes and safe travels! 🤍🚴🏻‍♀️🌟

Thanks. I agree. The complexity of those cathedrals is enormous. I'd love to go back in time and watch the construction. Europe has a lot to offer when it comes to interesting architecture. I'll be back out again soon. Thanks again for all the support 👍

This has been a wonderful trip to watch! A great combination of walks and rides, and so many awesome historic sites along the way. The lack of tourists is so cool - tourist season has just started here, lots of contestants for the Darwin Awards getting too close to bison. There’s an interesting connection between the Welsh and Breton languages- when I was a kid a guy used to bike around south Wales selling onions and garlic. We could understand each other pretty well if we spoke in Welsh. Take care.

Interesting idea to go to a place and then do a 4 day route before moving on, then repeating this. I could only do that if my wife was with me as my motorhome insurance explicitly states it can only be 'stored' (I assume that means empty) at a place other than it's normal secure storage place for a maximum of 2 days. Longer than this and I have to ring them to tell them. No idea if this would entail an additional premium as I haven't tried it yet.
