The Mirage opened in Nov. 89, our first visit was March of 90. Two stories come to mind. Spring of 91 our junket posse was staying at the Sahara and we reserved seats to the Siegfried and Roy show. Me with my binnocs to find the man behind he curtain. They made a elephant disappear and for the grand finally they make the elephant reappear. Bingo the elephant reappears and they stand the animal up on its hind legs and I'm watching thru my binnocs as the elephant splatters gallons of pee all over he front row of patrons. Golden shower jungle style. Flash forward one year to March 28, 1992. I have money on Kentucky to win over Duke in the NCAA quarter finals. We are standing near the Cal Pizza Kitchen and Mirage sports book watching my "For Sure" bet come in. 2.1 seconds left in over time with Kentucky up 103-102. Grant Hill inbounds cross court to Christian Laettner, he makes the shot ........tear up the ticket. I never set foot in that place again till last year with Chris, Nat and Frank. Farewell Mirage, thanks for the memories. Once again thank you Bror for your eye witness report last night. I could feel the energy of the sing along up here on Poor Man's Hill!
