Nah, they were just average, you obviously watched their bio which hyped them up. Truth is if it weren't for the attractive asian girls in the band nobody would have noticed or remembered them. It's very generic rock, nothing special.

I’ve only discovered them recently and I’ve found their live stuff is outstanding, but recorded albums are not nearly as good, tame in comparison.

Nicky Barcley had such a powerful voice I love how tight the band was not even a single error in ther perfomance they played like a complete unity of pure rock of the best ❤

Alice de Buhr said that they always thought that everyone is a shitty singer in the band. Apparently they werent popular enough for someone to tell them to STFU and keep on singing. Fanny had a super discouraging story unfortunately. Like, noone had the common sense to put them on tour with Peter Greenes Fleetwood Mac? Why

@@jwjeffrey depends on your definition of "a whole lot" and mine of "rare". There are about 20 different performances of the original lineup in varying quality floating around the tubes (half of them being from the two Beat-Club dates in '71 and '72). That's not that much.

It is just a crying shame that Fanny did not become huge in the 1970's. I am just thankful I have all their albums (well CD's actually) that I still listen to this day. Now if I could only find some concert bootlegs...

They're actually selling a concert CD now on the official Fanny band site. I can't link to it here in the comments, because KZfaq deletes comments with links now, but search for Fanny's site, and look for the live CD. They were great in the studio, but they always rocked much harder, and played together as a band better, in concert!

@@dr.s. I live in Brazil and here they were very little known. My generation never heard about them, and we had our share of female rockers and singers - if you could check out Os Mutantes, Rita Lee (recently deceased) and Elis Regina you will know the best known. Suzi Quattro was big here, but I only came across Fanny during the pandemic. Men have I ever thanked the Gods Of Rock for showing me that band. I showed them to my old friends and none of them knew them, not even the most nerdy!

@@cronistamundano8189 different background but similar story with them here. When they were atbleast kinda "big" I wasn't even existing and when I was old enough nobody talked about them. Also came across them recently (through a KZfaq recommendation that popped up more than once). They must have been at least somewhat known here, the Beat-Club performances were shot here. Will check out your recommendations later.

I'm a rocker from back in the 60s & 70s, and never heard about them until my YT feed started to explode with Fanny vids. They are fantastic! I read some articles and interviews to learn more about them, and was saddened to learn about the issues they had. They should have been HUGE! Too bad a major band couldn't have taken them under their wing and toured with them to get them more exposure and radio airplay. Maybe a case they were ahead if their time?

Growing up in the 70s, we used to follow an all girls band called "The Fairer Sex." They were relation to us on my dad's side of the family. At the time, they were one of the best girl bands in the area. I can really appreciate the musical talent these girl have. Happy Thursday... thank you for sharing! 💖

Am I the only one that thinks that this kind of performance it's enough to win inductment to the RnR hall of Fame? I know it's a little late now, and no one can give them back the succes they should have had, but it would be very very beautiful
