I moved to Oklahoma City in 1968, when my father retired after 20 years in the Air Force. I graduated from Douglass Senior High School in 1973. Watching this now feels so surreal!

This looks like an episode of the "Oil in Oklahoma" series that was produced by KTUL in the early '70s, with Bob Gregory as narrator. Other episodes focused on the Osage oil field (including the murder of Osage citizens for their headrights), Frank Phillips, and E. W. Marland. Does OHS have the rest of the series somewhere?

I moved to Oklahoma the next year in 1974. Interesting it's been almost as long from then as 1973 was from the 1920's.

What are some of the biggest changes in Oklahoma you have noticed since your time in 1974?

@@danwilliams6206 Hi Dan. Trees. Oklahoma was devoid of trees. The I-35 run between Norman and OKC was rolling prairie with almost no trees. Now from the ground and from the air, it's total oak scrub forest. Also decay. In the mid 70's to early 80's everything was new, and the buildings in OKC from the 20's and 30's were kept up. Norman's small shop fronts were all open and beautifully kept. Not anymore. That said, the farms today look better than they did back then. Farmers have better kept and tended land and superior housings to the mid 70's. Needless to say the farm equipment today is a new era from where it was then. I think the farmers that survived the past 45 years are doing much better.
