Hi Eileen, my dad has stage 4 lung cancer and it has been hard trying to adjust to news of his illness. I am sorry to hear you are dealing with having cancer. I don't know what your beliefs are. If you are not a believer in Christ, I can tell you that He gives us an incredible sense of peace like no one else. As long as you still have breath, it is not too late to accept Jesus as your Savior. I invite you to put your trust in Him if you haven't already. He loves you Eileen. I am going to pray for you. ❤

My wife of 20 years, and mother of our 5 year old, was diagnosed out of the blue with stage 4 breast cancer, we were told by her Virginia Hospital Center oncologist that it was easy to treat and she would live for decades, and she died 5 months later. It was 2 days after I finally got her home to do home hospice, only to discover her sodium and albumin levels were extremely low at the hospital when she left, and that the hospice couldn't level them up unless she went back to the hospital. She died in my arms barely able to breathe. She resisted taking any pain meds except the bare minimum. She was draining 2L of malignant fluid off her lungs every day (I guess tumors were on the outside of her lung lining from the first diagnosis, but unser) her body wasting away. At least one person blamed me for bringing her home on hospice for her death, instead of leaving her at the hospital (during the covid scares and restricted visiting hours) to be treated. I still suffer from these accusations. I loved her and gave it my all to keep her alive; but I did not succeed.

I’m sorry this happened to your family I just feel free to view. People could be so brutal and flightless at the worst times. One day you will be reunited with her and you’ll have all the answers you seek. It makes no sense. I was mad at God for a long time for taking my mom when I was very young with that cancer too. But we have to withhold her judgment and anger against God and move forward because we don’t understand right now. But when we get back to our true home in heaven with our creator we will have all the answers we seek. In the meantime thanks for sharing may God bless you and your little children. And find you another person to love and be their mother.

my uncle too, passed away 40 days ago from lung cancer im still in shock, sad that its moslty found out late so the patient cant get saved, it took 5 months after he got diagnose, im proud he fought it until the end,he died 1 week before his next appointment of treatment, its still shocking, the condition sometimes deteriorize so quickly, he was fine then slowly started to decline, then he got better for 1 day and we all got hope that maybe he is healing then deteriorized so quickly after 2 weeks he passed away. i realised cancer dont just hurt the patient it hurts the whole family, i always keep the images of him happy and, im just glad his pain ended. having other relatives having other different types of cancer made me feel worried about how common it become, i'am wishing for the impossible if i wish they can find a cure to this desease? something that can heal them better

Sorry to say that my experience with Hospice is less than favorable. My sister was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer with mets to the liver. The liver was sadly the death sentence. When she transitioned to hospice it was horrendous. They held back morphine and I quote "because we are concerned with the addictive side effect of opiates". My sister was awake and asking for water 5-hours before her last breathe. The doctors and nurses that were entrusted with her end of life care were simply professionally incompetent. Who in their right mind would make someone suffer in their last moments of life over concerns of an opiate addition? Before anyone jumps down my throat, I know that this may not be the experience for everyone, however it is what I witnessed first hand in South Florida.
@susansimpson2202

Absolutely! The truth!!! It is sickening. I can remember when "comfort was a concern" and "pain almost always indicates a problem that should be looked into" keeping in mind many things may not be visible but very real, a great example: Autoimmune Illnesses". It has got to where we have "police/agents" making medical calls for Dr's and it should be stopped!! I too have been left to suffer "TNBC, BRCA1+ my 2nd battle" and was in a wreck that left me unable to walk in 2020. It broke my spine at the L-5 and my knee plus hip which I had 2 surgeries for & was given 3 days of pain medicine in the Hospital. At the PT rehab I was only allowed a 5mg of Percocet and no take home pain meds! It's inhumane 🤬 No one should be left to suffer! And the CDC etc wander why there's a drug epidemic and sky rocketing suicides. They know, they helped create it!!

@susansimpson2202
@susansimpson2202 Жыл бұрын
@@jdtown6585 opiate addiction has no place in the same sentence with "especially" Stage 4 Cancer. The entire "War on Drugs" is nothing but a $ making scam. Take the Operation Pollution by the DEA that they done raiding Doctor's Offices then the CDC strickens guidelines to ones that harmed many innocent patients suffering in real pain in 2016 which the deaths from all opiates "synthetic, prescription & street" were at 42,000". After all they have done in this War on Drugs, the startling facts become that the opiate deaths increase due to synthetic & china fentanyl yet they try to sugar coat #'s by listing only the #'s of "opiate deaths by pills prescribed" of course as they were severely cut back and they don't go over the truth of the autopsies of those & how most had another substance involved. Also, poly addiction would sky rocket which use to be pretty rare. The total overdose rates have been at a staggering all time high since 2016 exceeding over a 100,000 lives per year. Suicides were up with notes and videos left by patients left in pain. I'll never forget going for my Oncology appointment and had a pending surgery "yet another" to look over and see a woman who was to have breast cancer, the pink ribbon but at the top was big block letters "Breast Cancer & Stopping Opiate Addiction". I was furious! Honestly it's not the place, time and especially when they let you suffer not helping you stating these guidelines. If you or anyone read my entire comment, thank you for your time reading and Happy Early Easter.

We are planning for my grandma to come live with us when he’s gone so she isn’t alone as he is getting bad. He is in bed all day and all night and my family is considering hospice. I am doing some research to determine whether or not if this is his final days or not. According to this video, he is stage 3-4. Someone very close to me ,her Shoulder started to hurt very bad she thought she had a pinched nerve. She also had a persistent cough and thought that was just a tickle in her throat. She was smoking Marlboro cigarettes in her 50s still . Then she took a test and they told her she has stage 4 lung cancer. I talk to her every day and I hear her fluid in her lungs when she coughs and her voice changed . she has a lot of pain still in her shoulder and other areas,she can’t eat because her tumor is too big so she drinks shakes and that hurts her stomach now. Lately she just sleeps a lot most of the time . It’s so heartbreaking I hate cancer ! So many people lost their loved ones over cancer. Hope you are doing okay and healing. I have breast cancer (had it cut out). I have lung nodules and cannot get them to tell me if they have grown or not. Each time someone looks at them with a CT scan, they say the size is different and describe some in different locations (very difficult for me to tell if they are the same and have grown or if they are new ones in addition to old ones…….. sad they do not have a more detailed way to describe them when they do CT scans and then have different people read the scan. You would think it would be standardized. Descriptions should be standardized. I am now nervous that I also have lung cancer that has not been diagnosed. Now I have to wait a whole year to have an additional scan. I have already had three in the last three years. They said it might be a good idea to wait. @@markgriffith2473 Not really, the "sleeping a lot is part of most people dying process" part. There are loads of people laying in bed or sleeping a lot with chronical diseases, but they are not in their end of life, but their condition, it could be pain, fatigue, brain fog and so on, request lots of resting.I think that is what "WeaverDreams" meant, your not dying because you need a lot of rest..Also, the headline said: "last signs of lungcancer before death" and he does not mention more than basically staying in bed for more than 12 hours..

@@dylan4972 My point was, reffering to what "Weaverdeams" said, about the headline saying "last signs of lungcancer before death" and this doc only talks about staying in bed more than 12 hours, not mentioning other late signs, (such as for example, advanced lungcancer almost always spreads to brain, and severe headache is a late symptom, as well as breathing problems..)and also that a lot of people do that (staying in bed for more than 12h)not being in the end of their life, but due to other conditions.

Hospice is awful for the family. The home health aides & nurses are wonderful, but basically the patient is returned home to die. This can be overwhelming for families as death is not something most have experienced first hand. My mother rotted away for almost two weeks with no food or water. @@parmarprashant2802 My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer last year, they gave her 2-3 rounds of Chemo to shrink the tumours, and then put her on immunotherapy. The Immunotherapy is working great, it doesn't shrink the them but it has stopped them from growing. The doctors said they will keep her on immunotherapy for 2 years, and if there is still no tumour growth they will take her off it (to avoid side effects) and keep monitoring her then put her back on immunotherapy if anything changes. If she was diagnosed 10 years ago, she would already be dead now because back then all they had was chemotherapy, now immunotherapy is amazing for prolonging her life. She's 65 and the treatment has allowed her to live long enough to see her first grandson.

Rather than send him to a home and be all hooked up to medical machines. They said they would just allow him to dye naturally. They had taken my uncle to the doctor and with his condition that he would live out his days at an old person hospital. My cousin, a nurse said he was in the active dying stage. In my opinion immunotherapy should be part of the treatment plan right away. Chicago area oncologists treated my father the old radiation/chemotherapy way. Which shrank the tumor but not for long. Then they wanted to go with an immunotherapy based treatment. My fathers white blood cell counts were depleted. And he was told anymore chemo and he would be paralyzed. So immunotherapy by itself didn’t do anything except line the clinics pockets.

My 84 yr old dad lives with us. He is bed ridden, on a feeding tube, and oxygen. He recently went into the hospital with pneumonia. While there, they were concerned that they may be seeing lung cancer on his x-rays. They couldnt do a biopsy procedure because of the risks, and his weakness. So now he is in a rehab/nursing home for 20 days, still recovering from pneumonia... Hes doing well, and will come home soon, after completing the round of antibiotics and steroids. But Im freaked out with him coming home and not really knowing what we are dealing with. He was a smoker, and for years, they have seen things like scar tissue, and mistaken it for possible lung cancer. But it was never actually cancer. One doctor seemed fairly convinced...but they obviously cant definitively diagnos it. So hes coming home in a couple weeks and may already be presenting symptoms. Or we may go back to his normal routine. Its nerve racking.

One abuses me and destroyed my room. Had her evicted. Other daughter talks so rude to me. Treats me like I'm a burden. Never helped me after my full hysterectomy. After three weeks I held my stomach and mowed a little each day. In pain. Had no food so I held my stomach and walked ten blocks to get groceries. Felt like passing out. Daughter gets upset if I call her in mornings.Tired of her treating me like one of her teenagers. Snippy rude. I fought 5 cancers in a year. 4 chemo. Couldn't finish due to weak legs. I live alone and am 66. No help. Not even a phone call to ask if i need anything. For mother's day my daughter threw a bouquet of flowers and snacks at my front door then drove off. I threw them away. I told her I deserved better than to be treated like that . Then i asked if I can have the mower she said I can have. She flew off at me texting mean things. I defended myself. On chemo you can't remember things. She told me to leave her alone and FIGURE IT OUT. My car isn't working. I'm going to have to use my walker and my cart to get food. And pray I don't pass out. My dad has lung cancer and he in hospice
@ltrillium1000

He knows very little of the reality of hospice. The situation is very facility by facility dependent. Our hospice center visited our home for 1 hour every 3-4 days and provided almost nothing in terms of supportive care. They were there to take measurements, made sure I had supplies and that I knew how to use the medication drip (which, by the way failed repeatedly). My wife died at home, hospice came to pick up the equipment two days later and I never saw or heard from them again unless I called. I have heard that others have had better experiences, but I would rather kill myself rather than allow hospice near me.

That's not true some people live the rest of their life and the cancer never comes back so that's not true. And they live a long life as well. My brother had cancer over 30 years ago and it's never returned it depends on the stage of the cancer.
