Shirō enjoyed his life at the top in the first two routes, and even as a counter guardian he could find happiness. Archer too, but he forgot it, yet in the end he said "Shirō cannot be wrong" because he experienced his ideals and Shirō awakened his past memory.

It's basically not save the world vs save the world. Neither of these choices are selfish. It's not wrong for Shirou to become a hero. But at the same time, nor is he obligated to be one. As long as it is *right.* Anime is a way for the creator to express his ideals and spread a message to people all around the world. Some people admire these ideals. Take Fate Stay Night for example. The wish to save everyone may be a fool's errand, but such an ideal is absolutely dazzling. Its beautiful and admirable beyond compare. There's no way such an ideal can be wrong. Me personally, it doesnt matter what u say. I stand (currently lying in bed but thats not the point) where i am today because of anime. Everyone needs something as their core. Everyone's beliefs, ideals, desires, dreams, morals all come from that core. And most ppl's cores come from admiration or inspiration. I believe in God and the fact that he created all, but he gave us free will. The free will to choose who we want to be. Most of our actions are caused by our admiration for something.
