The sad thing about Space Engineers, they will never be able to support enough players per server, to actually use creations like this to the fullest extent. They are cool to look at and stuff, but when you can only get 30-40 people, you cant have decent sized ship battles, complete with escort ships and aircraft, unless you automate a lot of the stuff or have people not manning specific stations. It is even worse on their official servers, they are capped at 16.

The USS Enterprise (CV-6/CV(N)-6) was Scrapped in the Late 1940's, early 1950's. She has the most Battle stars of any ship in the U.S. Navy in world war two with a total of 20 Battle Stars to her credit. At the time of the Attack on pearl harbor, she had Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat Fighters, Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless Dive Bombers and TBD-1 Devastator Torpedo Bombers. Shortly before either the battle of midway or the Guadalcanal Campaign, her Devastators were replaced with the newer Grumman TBF Avenger Torpedo Bombers. At Santa Cruz, she became the only operational Fleet Carrier in the U.S. Navy and conducted attacks in support of the Guadalcanal Campaign. She was then sent into Majuro, New Caledonia for repairs and overhaul in early 1943, and she returned to duty with all but one of her Quad 1.1 inch/45 Caliber Anti-Aircraft guns removed and replaced with 40 millimeter Bofors guns, more 20 millimeter Oerlikon guns installed along with another 50 feet added to her flight deck. Her Air Group was also re-equipped with the New Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat Fighters and Curtis SB2C-4 Helldiver Dive Bombers. At this point in the war, the Newer Independence-class Light and Essex-class Aircraft Carriers were coming into service and Enterprise continued to serve on the frontlines from the Attack on Makin atoll to the invasion of Iwo Jima were in the midst of a Japanese Air attack a Kamikaze A6M2 Zero Fighter flew over top of her, rolled into a Split-S and swan dived right onto the flight deck. The resulting explosion was powerful enough to blow her Foward Elevator, weighing 400 Tons, 40 feet into the air. She had a max Air Group size of 96 Aircraft, compared to the 24 Hellcats and 9 Avengers in the Air Groups of the Independence class light carriers and the 18 Hellcats, 36 F4U-1D Corsair Fighter-Bombers (18 Navy, 18 U.S. Marine corps), 28 Helldivers and 18 Avengers for the Air Groups of the Essex class Aircraft Carriers typically as of October 1944 onwards. In case you're wondering about the (N) in her later designation, this was after she had been fitted with Radar, mostly with the TBF Avenger Torpedo Bombers, but nonetheless it gave her the ability to conduct Night missions hence the N meaning night; it wasn't until the 1960's that the U.S. Navy started using Nuclear powered Aircraft Carriers with the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) being the first. Parts from her hull have been used to speed up the production of the Gerald R. Ford class Light Aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN-80) whilst the preceding Ship is in storage at Norfolk Navy Yard, Virginia.

Last month I was able to visit the Enterprise’s actual stern nameplate that was saved during the carrier’s scrapping and is now on display in a park in New Jersey. CV-6 was also the most decorated ship of WWII and the only ship of her class to survive it.

Ships with wheels! I had a Matchbox die cast aircraft carrier from the "Sea Kings" collection. Big chunk of diecast metal against the regular cars on the sidewalk races in the late 70's.

Open hangars (hangars doors on the side of the ship) were in reality a damage control prevention. It worked like this: In case of fire or explosion in the main hangar, under the deck, they would open those hangar doors and toss ammunition and planes overboard, so they would not detonate and sink the ship. This design is still used today on modern aircraft carriers (US ones)

The doors on the side represent the shutters for the sides of the hangar since the Enterprise wasn't built with a enclosed hangar.

You were correct with the aircraft type. The F4 or the F4U Corsair was one of the fighters used by the US Navy.

Loved the video man! I'm sorry about that Long winded "Lecture" in the comments section. I just wanted to try and give you a somewhat brief overview of the Enterprise's life and service as well as the aircraft used by the U.S. Navy over the course of the war. Would love to see the Devs at Space Engineers try and make a patch for servers to be lag free even at 150-200 people, at least.

Wildcats and Hellcats were the primary navy fighters also that is not called scissoring it is a very famous dog fighting tactic called the thatch weave.

Another reason to have a wooden deck, is you have traction when you walk, and don't slip around so much.

I could be wrong but the doors on the side are most likey there for gameplay reasons since on the irl cv6 those places were open idk why or what exactly they were used for partly for lifeboats i think

if i remember right many carriers like the enterprise had slots in the side of the ship for 2 reasons, 1 was weight reduction and material use, the other was circulation since fuel, bombs, and other ordnance in a tight area is not a good mix, especially if they were to cook off it became a place fort the explosion to escape in hopes of reducing the damage but i could be wrong haven't looked over the enterprise for a long time

So the fighter planes you're talking about are the F4F wildcat in the F6F hellcat

F4-U's and Dauntless' are mainly what were used on carriers during WW2

So with the interior turds that you saw those represent 20 mm/50s the missile launchers are the 5 inch 38 dual purpose guns and then the gun on the front is called the Chicago piano which is right or a place with the 40 mm buffer

This would fit very well with the water new water mod only requires a little changing

So the most likely aircraft used during its lifetime or at least during the start of its service would have been the Bell XFL Ariabonita. This is not the only possibility as it would have carried roughly 90 aircraft ranging from fixed to rotary.
