Unquestionably, among the finest ghazals I have heard ... a haunting rendition of Raja Mehdi Ali Khan's pathos-filled lyrics by Lata Mangeshkar under the baton of the ghazal-maestro Madan Mohan, with superb acting by Mala Sinha. I have uploaded three other great songs from a high quality original DVD of this film and now this is the fourth song. I cropped the original version to make it the wide-screen format without losing important detail.
According to an interesting story that I have mentioned at the Aapki Nazaron Ne upload, when the famed composer Naushad heard the songs of Anpadh, he congratulated Madan Mohan and said that he would be willing to trade all of his songs for just two ghazals from Anpadh; this song and "Aap Ki Nazaron Ne Samaza."

Lata Mangeshkar (September 28, 1929 - February 6, 2022) was a legend of singing of the entire subcontinent and globally she was a brand ambassador of Indian classical music. She was a recognition of the golden era of the silver screen of Bollywood. She was the soul of music without her name and her singing music and music's history is incomplete and worthless. Hindi Film industry has given master composrs like Shankar Jaikishan, Naushad ,SD BURMAN and more but Madan Mohan has distinct stature. This composition is unmatched, till date unmatched. The modern so called grt(overrated) composers like AR Rehman (although no dis respect for him, if he is rated normally) cd not compose such melody. Madan Mohan is immortal
