The problem I have is not with the joke, the problem I have is to promote a fairly average person into most important, they have to push down everyone else. Just like Sandler films, there can only be one smart person and that is the subject of ridicule. I found Kaling's shows always needs to incredibly insecure, the only one character who isn't insecure is because he is too dumb to know he's insecure. Overall, the writing style like these just causes terrible character development.
