Late Season Ice Fishing for Big Trout; Some open water at Strawberry Reservoir

4 ай бұрынToday I was supper happy to have my son come fishing with me! we had a great time fishing. We had great success! We also had my 2 brothers Doug and Jason meet us fishing! They are always super fun to hang out with. This will most likely be the last trips of the season on the hard deck. I am super excited to get out on the Kayak for ice off!

Was a great day of fishing. For a slow day we still managed to catch some Beautiful fish.. cant wait to get on the boats.

Just like that, it only took a few weeks, and the ice is almost gone. I put in for that mountain goat tag in the Uintas. If i draw it, I will be spending a lot of time hiking and fishing up there! Looks like you had a fun spring break week!

Rule #1 Don't leave fish to find fish. Doug - It's way more difficult to catch a small fish in a school of big fish. Thats what I tell my buddies when they all catch bigger fish than I. LOL! That open water is looking good.

Last year, I iced fished until March 31. I could have pushed it to the middle of April. I think when the ice starts to melt, it will melt fast. Seams how most of it is frozen slush. I can't wait for ice off! Just like jason says, starvation has no ice

@@baitnbullets 👏I have spent the past two weeks primping and preparing the kayak and trailer for the first open water trip of 2024. The Old Towne Angler Predator 13 has been a trusted steed. My wife named it, "Last One III" when I dragged it home. I even greased the trailer hubs and torqued the wheel lugnuts. Hopefully this next week time will allow . . .

@@canyonrunner very nice Kayak! I have been saving my pennies for a old town sportsman pdl. I can't wait for ice off at strawberry! I just took the test for the dnr quagga mussels. at least this year I didn't have to pay the $20 sticker. Last year I paid it, apparently didn't need to seams how I didn't have a motor.

All reports say the ice is still solid. We just had another cold spell. That will help! If you go to the ladders make sure you stay to the north of the water flow from the river. The moving water breaks down the ice fast and could be dangerous.
