For the 20th anniversary of the show, we should all mail copies of Thorn Birds to Seth. But hollow them out, and put Mac Tonight figurines inside. . .
@JeffRLord
@JeffRLord 4 ай бұрын
On March 31 2020 I tweeted to the Seth Meyers account the fact that the attic bookshelf prominently included a copy of the Thorn Birds in hardcover. It seemed so unlikely to me -- that he would have read and kept a copy of that 1970s book -- that I had to comment. I don't know if that tweet of mine was the impetus for the whole Thorn Birds craziness that followed, but just hoping/thinking that it might be was honestly one of the things that helped get me through the early stages of the pandemic. So I don't know if I can factually take credit (or blame), but thinking it might be true is a lot of fun for me. The weird community that developed during that time was a godsend. And of course, go Corrections!
@sherinameless1618
@sherinameless1618 4 ай бұрын
@@JeffRLord I am sure that Seth took note of your comment, decided to run with it by bringing in an ever-increasing number of copies, and then that inspired him to use the stuff around his in-laws' home, which brought us the Sea Captain, and the rest is history! Jeff, you are one of our nation's (The Jackal nation) heroes!

Seth is an empathetic, curious, kind, funny, well-spoken person who is truly at his best when he is laughing kind of at someone or something and somehow everyone is ok with it and in ok the joke. It’s some sort of kindness-magic effect he has put in this whole production. I’ve seen normally super shy stars truly enjoying themselves and also the Nathan Lanes and Martin Shorts of the world having a fabulous stage for their huge personalities simply in seth’s interview. Seth: no notes.

Being enamored by late night talk shows dating back to Johnny Carson, I have to say that Late Night with Seth is my favorite. And now I know why - the back of house kindness shines under the lights. This is the key ingredient to a great show. Seth is the perfect host, putting guests at ease and the perfect boss by spotlighting his phenomenal staff who are crucial to the show's excellence. Little changes, like not returning in the stuffy suit and tie, gives us a relaxed atmosphere where the serious and the not so serious can be absorbed.

Seth is the only celebrity I feel like I know. He has such a kind energy at the same time as being THE funniest person on TV, and it’s broken down my barriers to parasocial connections. I love closer looks, I enjoy the guest interviews, and I treasure the comedy genius of corrections, which feels to me like the most hilarious and cosy piece of art on the internet. Through the pandemic, Seth maintained his warm connection with his audience like no other late night host. In times of great personal stress and anxiety, Seth was the friend I could call who would make me feel better. I’ve seen corrections straight through at least 5 times. Sitting with a family member in great physical and emotional pain, after talking them down from a ledge and singing them to sleep, I recently turned on a random corrections episode to calm down. It made me feel like a person again, and reminded me that the world has a lot of good in it, in a way that saccharine and trite inspiration porn or religious works have never done. You don’t know me, but if you’re reading this, thanks for being a friend.

Congratulations on 10 years of Excellence! I toast you with my Jackals mug!! The full 35 seconds of Seth in the Rudy-glasses and teeth perfectly illustrates the shows willingness to do call-back after call-back on jokes that should die, but no. Every time the show goes on hiatus I feel like Frisbee with separation anxiety, waiting to see and hear a friend return. Black vs Lesbian... thanks for that, Fonzzy.

GOAT late night host. He helped and grew with us during the pandemic and the presidency, and whatever comes next, feels like a friend, along with all the writers. Always killing it.

Yes, Seth soothed my anxiety through the pandemic. I took a week off from work, staycation, the last week in March 2020, when I went back to office building, it was completely deserted, and my boss said, 'grab your computer and go home. No one can be here.' F*ckin crazy times! I had cut my cable after my Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl 2014...all I had was KZfaq. Thank you, Seth and team!!🙏🙌🫶💕

Another European who watches Seth first thing in the morning here, genuinely get most of my US news from the show and love how it’s sincere when it needs to be and silly when that’s needed too. I do hope shows like this continue to evolve in the streaming era, I pay for KZfaq Premium and a lot of the attraction is getting to see the best bits of this show every weekday morning. I would love if you did an uncensored version for us though!

Totally worth going to find pt. 2 of this (on the Late Night podcast). No pictures, but the voices are enough-and mesh well with the images in this video/doc. You'll get to hear from: Scollins, the pair of security guards...even Wally ! This helps me get through the sad jackal time until we get a new ep. of Late Night Seth.

I live in Australia and Seth makes my day! First thing in the morning, youtube search and clutch a coffee while watching Seth. Thankyou for all the effort you and the team put in to produce this show. BTW if Seth needs a hand with his Australian accent let me know, it is currently fucking horrible mate!

It might be predictable but here goes. You have a devoted fanbase, i am one of them and add my voice to that chorus. You are the best presenter, interviewer on late night, love the fact that you are intellectually very strong, a good person, funny both by skill and instinct and that makes your show better and always you share the limelight with your writers which meant that they are loved as you are. Thank you to you and your whole team for the program you bring. May you and your family as well as every single person on your team flourish and go from strength to strength. You all bring goodness in our homes. Thank you very much and best wishes.

This is so great! I love this show in general and I pretty much only see it on KZfaq. I'm an OTR trucker and I have very early mornings, so I always TOTALLY look forward to watching the previous night's "A Closer Look" (and all other segments) when I'm winding down after very long days of work. I even sing the theme song to myself in my truck!😅This whole team is amazing, thank you for all your hard work to make these insane times more tolerable!!

I like how Shoemaker refers to Seth’s Jackals as “a certain contingent of fans”. We all really felt the same as Seth did about the show going back to a studio audience. I love what ACL has become with the help of Corrections. The circle created between Seth, his shows and his Jackals is making for something truly unique, amazing and incredibly entertaining to watch and really be a part of.

I missed not seeing the evolution of Seth doing the monologue from his desk. Forgot it was on a Thursday but I will never forget that that Thursday with Craig Ferguson telling him to do what makes him comfortable was like Craig passing the baton to be his best original self for the late night audience that has always been up for the late shows. That is when I said “oh, ya. Seth will be fine now. Bring it on”. Is a possible Ferguson guest appearance soon also in the works?
