Lip's writing was frustrating on Shameless but also very real how very intelligent guys who don't have drive fall into the cracks. Its no wonder Carl and Ian thrived when Lip didn't. They may not have Lip's intelligence but they had drive and discipline that Lip never had. Lip is the cautionary tale of genius unrealized.

@@neonoires So did Ian and Ian had to live with his bipolar disorder, overcame it and is doing better despite all the setbacks. Ian never got an offer from MIT or a recommendation to WestPoint like Lip did. Everyone in Lip's life tried their damnest to help Lip rise above it all. Mandy sacrificed a lot for him and barely got any thanks from him. Fiona did too and Lip never gave her the credit she deserved. Lip always felt a little entitled. Lip was offered so may opportunities, squandered them all and settled for less.

@@kellypatterson4412 LMAO are you joking? Yea his skills got better and he got worse as a person. He's screwing around while the kitchen is in chaos, that's not 'time management'...its basic common sense, situational awareness and common decency! He went from being a fun and nice guy to being selfish and pompous. The only way to explain it is that the writers didn't want all the characters to have positive development so they made one character regress to a selfish jerk. If he had pulled that BS in restaurants I've worked in he'd have been FIRED as soon as he walked out. My head chef would've said, "if you leave now don't bother coming back". How anyone (like the OP) could say that character had "lots of growth" is beyond me. Clearly he's not watching the same show I am.

It captures the feeling of the lunch rush so perfectly that I had to pause it in certain spots because I had to remind myself I wasn't at work. Also it's cool to see Matty Matheson playing a character on the show.

I LOVE this show. Had never seen the actor before but he is amazing. The whole cast is great. I think he should star in a Barry Manilow biopic!

If you loved him in this you should watch Shameless. One of the best series you will ever see! He grows up on that show and his character is awesome

I’m just loving this show and all of the representation for Chefs and Cooks. The stress of a kitchen is real but you really do create a sense of family with your team. I love all of this and seeing Jeremy Shine!

I read a comment on KZfaq that some guy who had worked in the restaurant industry, couldn't watch more than one episode because it gave them so much anxiety... Because it's so realistic .. it's an amazing show by the way

A lot of people praise the accuracy with which the restaurant environment was portrayed but I have no experience there so I want to praise the dialogue. It felt alive and real and electric, and each character clearly had their own voice. I think it also portrayed how different people deal with grief in their own ways in a lovely, matter-of-fact way without making it too melodramatic. Every aspect of the show seems really well thought out and that one episode that's almost completely dine in a single take is one of the most exciting things to happen on a show in a while for me.

Great show. Makes me realize that I have no business in the kitchen. I would experience all the anxiety, doom and gloom. While I’m sure all chefs had the anxiety, their passion probably counters that. As much as I love food, I only love the eating part from a passion perspective 😂

This show is completely underrated and whizzed by me unnoticed. Impact-wise, its by no means at the level of Succession, House of the Dragon or Last of Us, but its wonderfully written, shot and crafted. Jeremy Allen White and the cast was incredible and the cinematography is so immersive I gasped for air after each episode.
