@@ncooty I find that the 'correct' form, would be 'alumni', even though it's really not grammatically correct. At a certain point we have to look on the pragmatics of language, and settle on what is reasonable to expect from the majority of the population. Speaking a foreign language as bridge language is hard enough as it is, and it becomes unreasonable at a certain point to conjugate, pluralize an unspoken language. Similarly, I know the singular of 'media' is 'medium' but I don't bend over backwards if I hear people double-pluralizing "all sorts of media", because I know the intent. That being said, I learned something today, so there's that.
