Thank you. This helped to understand how it works

Short. To the point. Informative. No long-winded bullshit leading up to the key information. Excellent video.

Thanks. Gives a better perspective on what is probably wrong with mine.

Thank you for this video. You bring up two ways that no other video about sand leaks talk about and it was very helpful. My question is, if you have an issue with sand getting in your pool due to any breaks in the lateral or lateral assembly, can it cause other issues? For example, low PSI or leaks in either the backwash pipe when the main filtration is running or leaks in the pool jets when backwash is running

I think the answer in both your scenarios would be no. When the multiport handle is moved to backwash, the entire return section of the plumbing is effectively "turned off" so there should be no effect. When the handle is turned to filter, the backwash outlet is turned off. Any leak would be due to bad o-rings/gaskets, or a crack somewhere else in the system. I'd head over to troublefreepool.com and post your question there.

Thank you. And I will post that question there. The thing is that when I changed my sand in my filter a few weeks ago, I also swapped out my valve assembly for a new one. So gaskets are brand new. So I have both the leaking sand in the pool AND the leaks between the valve. Could be two separate independent issues that could be happening at the same time. I just want to find out if they were possibly linked. Maybe the new valve assembly has a manufacturing defect.

Sand may be getting in if the spider gasket is worn, it’s below the multi port valve. You will need to take it apart to replace. Amazon most likely will have them.

@@danielploy9143 Coincidence in your reply. I am actually replacing my entire pool filter today.

I thought about wrapping the whole lateral assembly with micron fabric from a fabric store..and zip tying to stem pipe.....what do you think?

I would be very hesitant to add anything. All you're doing is restricting flow further, and increasing the load on the pump. Post that question to troublefreepool.com and see what kind of opinions you get over there.

Thanks for the video. Is this a Hayward made part?

Yep. The manual for the filter has all the part numbers you need. lesl.a.bigcontent.io/v1/static/pro-series-tm-manual

Do you replace all the laterals or individual that are broken. Sand pipe replacement as well.

In general, I've only replaced what's needed. That said, since getting to the laterals is a pain, if you're there anyways, doing all of them might be a good idea. As for the center pipe.. Unfortunately for this model, there's no way to do just the center pipe. You have to replace the whole assembly, which takes care of all the laterals. In my case, the center pipe broke, so I had to replace the whole assembly. Before throwing out the broken one, I saved the old laterals as spares for the future.

where to find Lateral Assembly numerber size

The instruction manual for your filter should have a parts explosion with all that information on it.
