Retired licensed civil engineer here, 45 years doing all sorts of water, wastewater and drainage projects, including a few of these thru-out the NE. I cannot tell from this poor news video (did not even identify who the expert(?) was) what the impact will be, but there Is no question that the dam is failing. The only way to prevent this is to lower the pond water level down to at or below the elevation of the downstream toe of the dam. The dam may still fail as the saturated earth fill will simply collapse, but most likely homes will not be inundated.

Things will get worse as the pacific compresses, pulling land west of the mississippi river with it. The new madrid fault is getting ready to split the continent in two.😢 ZetaTalk Chat Q&A for June 30, 2024 "...The New Madrid Adjustment will reshape the N America Continent. We have focused on various aspects of this reshaping but like pieces of a puzzle, when put together, they show the radical changes in process. We have stated that the Mississippi River will be up to 50 miles wider in places due to a land droop West of the Mississippi. We have stated that the Mainland shift to the SW will be a factor in causing Mississippi River bridges to fail. As the SE Portion (land east of the mississippi river) is pulled East, we have predicted that the Yucatan, housed on the Toe of the SE Portion, will likewise be pulled to the East... ...We warned that the substrata of land around the Dallas area would melt when flooded and under the drooping land phenomena that developed in May 2024 this has proven true. Zetas RIGHT Again! Drooping land creates a low air pressure system overhead, thus thunderstorm development. The saturated land at the Rockwall earthen dam is giving way. This will soon be a concern for all areas on the Mainland to the West of the Mississippi River, where drooping presents not only Thunderstorms but poor drainage for the rain that develops..."

Look at the property boundaries and shorelines - that Is Not a 'Dam' or 'Reservour', that is an Artificial Lake created by the property developer to up the prices of the properties. Basically a giant earthen swiming hole. Looks like the design and contruction didn't take account of high rainfall events.
@patrickwhelan5703
@patrickwhelan5703 2 ай бұрын
Yes!! Usually developers will dig out a "hole" and use that fill to create elevations for the housing pads. Those holes then become "lakes" for those "waterfront homes"... Here in Florida it's all they do and there is now flooding because these "lakes" or "catch basins" are connected to each other. Stupid design....

@@2148aa Texas is the place where people moved to Mexico and then became offended that Mexicans were there. They actually do not want the border bill, because they are the primary beneficiaries of the exploitation of immigrant labor. The churches are heavily involved in multi-million dollar resettlement contracts, which allow them to resettle immigrants anywhere they want. This leads to kick backs when they supply the businesses in other states. I dug ditches in west Texas with illegals and lived with them there, and made 3 trips to Guatemala , 08, 09, and 2015. They Evangelicals spent millions converting the people there, and then when Trump got in they started the caravans. Nothing is, as it is said in Texas. It is a place of deceit, jealousy and greed. It is amazing how they convince people of false things. If Califormia seceded, they would remain as wealthy as a large modern country,..whereas if Texas seceded, they would be broke in 2 months, when we pull the military bases. That is the reality.

Unless you buy specific flood insurance through the government your home is NOT covered for water damage. Regular homeowners insurance excludes flooding. A small town near me had a huge rain event and flooding some years ago and none of the homeowners, who had vey obviously purchased homes in the flood plain of a small creek, were covered for the damage. Now those people, if they were wise, have purchased flood insurance in addition to their homeowner policies. $$$$

You would be surprised at the number of homes that are in a floodplain. It's not unusual. However, builders are supposed to mound up earth and pour a thicker foundation to raise the house up an extra few feet. You're just supposed to buy insurance to cover the contingency of a flood. Realtors almost never disclose if your house is in a floodplain.

That lake isn’t that big or that deep so probably never going to happen. Just wait 4 weeks and they’ll be crying about the drought again. The lake is not above the homes and the terrain is relatively flat. Might be why it’s seeping underneath instead of flowing over the berm.

From the Association of State Dam Safety Officials web site: "Seepage flow which is muddy and carrying sediment (soil particles) is evidence of "piping," and could very possibly cause failure of the dam. Piping can occur along a spillway and other conduits through the embankment, and these areas should be closely inspected. Sinkholes may develop on the surface of the embankment as internal erosion takes place. A whirlpool in the lake surface may follow and then likely a rapid and complete failure of the dam." A Hurricane flooding the region, or, a some fracking waste water injection earthquakes, also make this hazard worse.

If the reason the people bought those homes was because of the “water view”, they got a lot more than they expected. Money can buy just about anything except common sense.
