thanks for the update regarding your system and new house hunting. Congratulations by the way, I hope your family is able to find a house you all enjoy. I've been planning on posting a request to you regarding your room treatment and how you incorporate mics and software for room acoustic analysis. I was glad to hear that you may do a video about this very thing in your new house. Room treatment can change the sound more than any component (almost any component). In any case, it is highly important. I've just moved into a new house myself and am currently debating using more sound reflectors or fewer sound absorbers. I'm also debating a few mics and software. Anyway, I hope you will be able to make an acoustic room treatment video when you're done with the new house. Have fun on your summer vacation/trip my dude!

for anyone looking for the Musician speaker -- it's _knight_, not night. Surprisingly difficult to find online, may be easier accessible in the US. There are some european dealers (e.g. one in the Netherlands selling them for €1,500, I presume that's for a pair). I couldn't find any seller direct from China -- the maker's site lists aliexpress, but could not be found there; they also list an aoshida site but with no link. Many hifi producers appear to work along the lines of: don't find us, well find you. They not the worst offenders -- at least I found a dealer that listed a price....

Among amps, is there a reason you stick with Denon instead of Accuphase, Luxman, Hegel, Gryphon and that range?
@Tharbamar
@Tharbamar 2 жыл бұрын
Here is my criteria, I only buy amplifier brands that have own factory. Hegel amplifiers are made in China by Opera Audio but they always pretended like made in Norway, never say made in China on actual products. (I have no problem using Made in China products) Gryphon is Made in Taiwan and overpriced for what it is. Accuphase is my favorite but they are way overpriced in the USA. Luxman is assembled in Japan with many Made in China parts but not transparent about it with customers. Denon have probably the biggest manufacturing facilities in Japan with best engineering team with 100+ years of history and being world’s biggest amplifier maker with unlimited resources. So, I choose PMA-SX11 over Accuphase E-470 after back to back listening. Thanks

@Tharbamar

R11 is Not thirsty at all sensitivity is a bit under rated, 92db+ sensitive is not thirsty speaker. WATTS IS NOT IMPORTANT, MOST IMPORTANT IS THE CURRENT. So you're saying my amplifier have not enough power, you are 100% wrong because no integrated amps in the price range can drive Apogee Duetta signature down to 1Ω like SX11 can and companies like Musical Fidelity can't even make their own amplifiers, contract manufactured in Taiwan with a bunch of Chinese parts, quality and workmanship is not even comparable to be honest.

@@Tharbamar no. I'm saying that's why those speakers can be manufactured cheaper labor rights I have nothing against Chinese products I have a Chinese-made and designed DAC. You didn't even mention the Wharfedale Evo 4.2. Apparently they turned out to be really crappy speakers. But 1-2 years ago you were praising them using the same adjectives. I don't get it.

@@Tharbamar thanks for your comment. I mean, you have different favorite speakers at different times, but the arguments are always the same (musicality, balance, etc.) It would be more useful to hear more quantitative-scientific rather than ephemeral and mood-dependent arguments.

@@kazimirmalevich6712 Keep in mind this audiophile hobby is very subjective, we change equipment all the time, and keep things for a while and enjoy them. I own the EVO 4.2s, bought them based on Tharbamar's review, and absolutely love them. Actually are afraid to replace them because they sound so good in my set up.

Hi, Tharbamar I recently purchased a pair of PSB Alpha P5 speakers and a Marantz PM6007 amp. But I'm facing an issue. The problem is that the left channel sounds louder than the right channel. Don't know why. I tried everything like swapping the speakers and the speaker cables but the imbalance is still there on the left channel. First I got myself a Marantz PM5005, the imbalance was there so I returned it and got the PM6007 but still the same imbalance problem persists. I've ordered a new 3.5mm to RCA cable to check if the problem is with the cables or the amp itself. Can you help me out with this?

That's disconcerting. Whenever I have bought a new amp. I test it by turning the amp as low as possible to see how much difference there is from one channel to the next. I turn it up a bit to see if it remains balanced, by ear at least. One factor to consider is the recording. I find the left channel can sometimes seem louder but it could be how music or soundtracks were mixed. In the sweet spot, I get a nice center image with left or right sounds depending on the recording and mix to show that. But if you hear one side louder than the other consistently, there could be an issue. It could be the speakers too, try physically swapping the speakers L to R and R to L to see if the issue persists or if it reverses.
