So Who are Campervan Journey?
We are JT, Harry, Claire, Sam and Ben, oh and Hunny the Dog. We discovered campervanning in 2015 when we bought our first Volkswagen T5 Combo after seeing many at our favourite campsites. We were staying with our tent, and dreaming that one day we would have our own Campervan. After much research, we bought and converted our own T5 Kombi to suit our requirements, check out the video on the channel. We soon discovered that owning a Campervan is a way of life and it is not just about amazing trips round Europe, it’s as much about great days out and family time…
We have been lucky enough to visit some amazing places with our van, many of which we know we wouldn’t have seen if we had not owned it. They instil a sense of adventure and where shall we go into your life.
After 3 years with the T5, we upgraded to a Volkswagen T6 California Beach, our current van, and we continue to enjoy travelling and visiting some amazing places. You can check out our latest videos and adventures here on the channel !

Yes, ours will be very similar to the one at the NEC but the interior is the colour of the Grand Canyon 👍🏻

The rear seats are slideable, still waiting on our Ayers Rock, should be December/January apparently. We saw them at the show too and happy with our choice 👍🏻

Free S 600 Campus is currently my favourite along with the Adria Twin 600 as a step up from our VW but not see any of them in the flesh yet……

We do like the look of Free 600 on the Sprinter, that looks like it could be moving in t be a favourite for us....would like to test drive one if we can...!

Would love a Grand Canyon S, but £135k… Over £40k more than my Free 600 which I have on order. I’ll happily save and sink £40k into posh villas and hotels over the next 5 years instead 😉

What do we think about a ducato base?

I know the Ducato/Boxer/Relay is very popular as a base for loads of conversions, and probably for good reason, price and availability. Having owned a California for 5 years now and had a T5 before that, I have been warned that a Ducato doesnt drive anywhere near as well as the Cali or a Crafter / Sprinter. The interior quality is much more rugged in terms of plastics and refinement. I wish it was better. I really like the Westfalia Columbus, but that is now a £90,000 plus van, and I struggle with the idea of spending that much money on a van based on a Fiat, the lower perceived quality and wondering when the electrics may go wrong ....! But, you can't deny that many of the Fiat Based vans are good value compared to the Crafter and Sprinter based alternatives. What do you think ?

@@CampervanJourney I completely agree. I have driven variants of both and the Fiat is not the ride that others offer. That said you get more room inside 🤷‍♀️. Can’t say I had any problems with my Ducato. when you are forking it £90000 for a van 😳 you want quality and the best driving experience. Especially when taking a massive risk of ploughing that amount of money into a vehicle that has a very uncertain future. The government has not given any solid guidance to the MH world as to 2030 policy. It could get very expensive very quickly.
