This was a masterpiece episode. The beauty of the one shot here is not just seeing, but feeling the chaos as things begin to fall apart. Watching Rust have to think on his feet to keep himself alive, keep the innocents alive, while completing his objective. Kudos to the director on this one.

I’m so glad y’all can read Marty’s storyline for the depth and tragedy of self and internal struggle that it represents, instead of having that surface level low IQ reaction of literally rooting against one of our main characters because you can’t separate your own identity from the art you are viewing. Also really enjoying yalls channel, you’re really fuckin good at this 😌

That long take is a masterpiece this season is so good!……they only hid one cut in that take when they pan up to the helicopter

That was an optional stitch point they included but wound up not needing to stitch two shots together. It’s all a single take.

The other actors did such a phenomenal job during that scene. The lighting and the sound design too. Wonderfully done.

This is one of those episodes that cemented TV's place as a better art form than movies, for years film actors refused to do TV as it was considered a step down but i'm so glad that old stereotype is long gone and it's mainly thanks to HBO

So even with closed captions I can’t actually catch the name of the guy on the right. Sounds like he says “ I’m arbrett” but that’s not a name I’ve ever heard of. In any event just wanted to say you look remarkably like Jon Favreau

Excuse me for disagreeing, but IMO "the focus" of True Detective is not who the killer is, but the character studies of Marty & Rust. That is what makes the show so memorable. Both of these guys are full of faults, which is what makes them so interesting to watch. (IMO, the fact that McConaughey & Harrelson are such good friends IRL contributes to their on screen chemistry....great performances.)

For supporting Maggie in the situation her husband put her by having an affair? No shit anyone with a modicum of morals and empathy would support Maggie. Marty is a POS in this issue, no doubt. Doesn't mean we can't empathize with Marty too, and see his positives traits and actions but c'mon.

Enough! Telling characters how they should act or they deserved what happened to them is a sophomoric way of virtue signaling. It’s a fictional story. It’s constructed in such a way as to make it a great story. If you can do better, go ahead. I doubt that you could come up with another verse for Old MacDonald.

Exactly. "It's a fictional story". Get over it. Shouting at characters to do something different is a longtime tradition of movie and TV show fans in a communal viewing experience where viewers are allowed to vocalize their opinions. Like in a REACTION VIDEO.
