This is my trusty (rusty) old Colchester Student Lathe. It is all functional but a little tired looking. So I set my self the task of giving it a spring clean.
It was surprisingly easy to take the covers off given that they probably haven't been removed since the lathe was built about 50 years ago!! After that it was a matter of degreasing, sanding, priming and painting.
This was all done in the depths of a wet cold windy winter in the UK. Not ideal as you can probably hear my workshop heater blasting out the hot air like a jet engine. Anyway I had some fun doing this. I am in no way a professional, just a enthusiastic do'er upper. I'm sure the professionals amongst you will have better ways of doing things and if any of you have any useful tips or constructive criticism to pass on then put them in the comments below and I'll try to make better videos in the months/years to come.
Greetings to you all from Herefordshire UK - our little corner of heaven in rural England.
