The hi-hat pattern is not absolutely binary. I guess it's intended. It's slightly different from the pattern on the campana in son.

How do you count this? It's in 4, right? So is the guiro pattern (hi-hat) on: 1-and-a-2-and-a-3-and-a-4? or is it: 1,2-and-3, 4-and-1, 2-and-3-4-and... Another way to ask my question: when he's counting it in - it's 4 clicks, right? Is that one measure of 4 or two measure of 8? I think it doesn't *really* matter in the end but I'm trying to figure out how to communicate with my bandmates and it would be helpful to know the most common way of counting this kind of cumbia beat. Thank you to anyone who has some insight for me!
