Martin took care of KZ and several other young talents by just giving them a safe place to stay . He literally acted as a Father to all of them in the absence of their real parents . When KZ finally got her own place , Martin helped her with moving , hanging portraits etc . KZ considered Martin as her father away from home . In the late 1980's we had a project to raise funds and help the less fortunate. Martin Nievera was invited to sing one of the original songs to be recorded in an album to sold for the project (we even had a live concert but witout Martin). Martin with his good heart agreed. He learned and recorded the song for an hour! We are all amazed how professional he is. As a fan it was so hard to control myself but I did. I got his autograph!

You can watch it once back then, no youtube, no internet. So you have to either watch it on a sunday or buy their album. And i live far from the city back then, i have to travel 5hrs to be able to at least eat Jollibee (fast food like McDonalds) much more buy their album 😆

His generation which included Gary Valenciano paved the way for the commercialization of pop and ballad in the Philippines. Regine Velasquez was a favorite guest of both Martin and Gary when she first emerged in the scene. These guys are pillars in the industry and although they are arguably past their prime, they still hold a lot of influence in the industry.
