@@megija7767 Well Latvia, in my view, is an intersting country of the balkans ww1 perspective, especialy about the imediat end of war with the fight against the soviet disturbance of 1918 to 1920 witch is to me the real end of WW1. If I m correct France took a part of this to keep the soviet expention away.

Asking the Germans to help fight off the soviets, by offering their citizens land, then turning your guns and fighting the Germans after they shoot one of your best generals in a staged accident, meanwhile a brittish battleship sits in the gulf of riga, so that the british can rewrite history and claim that they basically won our war of independance for us.

We are few but proud. We love our country to the bitter end and would fight to protect it over and over. Many people have tried to take our land from us and we’ve spent more time under occupation than free, but our will, our spirit, our message will never die. ŪRĀ

Two doves bolted into the blue Both cooing as they rose. Ai, ai, aijajaijā Both cooing as they rose. Two brothers rode off to war Pondering as they rode. Ai, ai, aijajaijā Pondering as they rode. Should they ride or should they not - Or stay in their homestead? Ai, ai, aijajaijā Or stay in their homestead? Where did my brother dear go - The bearer of our banner? Ai, ai, aijajaijā The bearer of our banner? Thence he marched and now remains In the Prussian borderlands. Ai, ai, aijajaijā In the Prussian borderlands. There strolled the sons of God Gathering up souls. Ai, ai, aijajaijā Gathering up souls. And so, the soul they came upon They enveloped in a white woolen shawl. Ai, ai, aijajaijā They enveloped in a white woolen shawl. They conveyed it to the tranquil shade To lay into the cradle of God. Ai, ai, aijajaijā To lay into the cradle of God. Slumber, dear beloved soul Felled in war - never dead. Ai, ai, aijajaijā Felled in war - never dead.

Div' dūjiņas gaisā skrēja, Abas skrēja dūdodam's. Ai, ai, aijajaijā Abas skrēja dūdodam's. Div' bāliņi kaŗā jāja, Abi jāja domādam': Vai būs jāti vai nejāti, Vai palikti sētiņā? Sētiņā ir laba dzīve, Jaunas meitas gultu tais'. Kas taisīja zaldātam(i), Kas tam klāja paladziņ'? Priežu zari, egļu skujas - Kaŗavīra paladziņš. Sūnu cinis, akmentiņ(i)s - Kaŗavīra spilventiņš. Kur palika mans bāliņ(i)s - Karodziņa nesējiņš? Tur aizgāja, tur palika Uz tām prūšu robežām Tur staigāja Dieva dēli, Dvēselītes lasīdam'. Atraduši dvēselīti, Ietin baltā villainē. Ienes klusā pavēnī, Guldin' Dieva šūpulī. Aijā, mīļa dvēselīte, Kaŗā kauta - nemirus'.

@onslov443 жыл бұрын
Latvian riflemen offered their services to the Russian Provisional Government and other parties. They wanted Latvian autonomy in Russia as a reward. Refusal was received everywhere. Only the Bolsheviks promised Latvia independence, not autonomy. The Entente did not recognize the aspirations for independence and insisted on maintaining the empire within 1914. The British government even sent some tanks to Bermont's forces while they were trying to occupy Riga. Where did the Bermont Army take armored vehicles, planes, artillery if it was all under the control of the Entente forces? The help of the British and French squadron to the Latvian forces was only an arbitrary action of the squadron commander. Since there is nothing to blame the riflemen for supporting the Bolsheviks. That was the only way out. The White would win, the Entente together with the Russian imperialists would destroy the Latvians.

@@OddyPodGT 1. Latvia got wiped off onto a boat and Estonia did a large chunk of the work, during WW1. 2. We lost in WW2. 3. That's WW1 and WW2, not now. In comparison to most countries, Latvia has a weak military. It's not a matter of opinion, it's fact. It has little troops and a small arsenal. It's good for a country of it's size, but it's still weak. If you say anything else, you're delusional.
