Her vocal technique is always on point, including every time I've heard her streaming live. She must have worked her tail off her whole life to be so skilled: singing, cello, composing, etc. Much respect.

Totally right! Laufey makes it look so easy one forgets that. And in the middle of all that she found the time to develop herself as an amazing lyricist in a language that’s not even her first. This girl is out of this world.

The only thing that qualifies me to validate your comment is the complete feeling of warmth from hearing her dance through the vocals, the hairs on the back of my neck can also confirm she hits all of the notes perfectly.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, I AM A SOUND ENGINEER and mix and master of over 10 years. SHE IS REAL. There is not puffed up engineer tricks going on here. THIS IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT! REAL TALENT. Sick and tired of all these mixed and mastered versions of ppl with polished versions pretending to perform live. THIS IS 100% real acoustic live people. Keep up the solid work!

Not everyone can do this. Your brain has to be wired to handle doing three things at once. Left hand selects the notes. Right hand plays the tune and keeps time. And singing. And to handle all three so well simultaneously - that is real skill right there. It's a beautiful song, played and sung beautifully.

As a person who sings and plays the guitar at the same time, this is completely true especially when trying to learn a new song, but it becomes much easier the more you do it.

Not everyone can do this, but I think everyone could do this. Don't let this discourage you if you're learning. It takes a lot of practice and skill. Time. Lots of time. And perseverance. That doesn't make it less impressive, it just underscores it.

I think that description of "modern story with old sounds" is extremely accurate, and really beautiful. The form of your song is very much a verse-chorus-verse-chorus, and the lyrics are very modern, but the melody and harmonies and timbres are very bossa nova especially that Edim chord leading back to the Fm9. Very beautiful and very subtle. I just found your music, but I am enjoying it immensely already.

On Spotify now (Jan. 22. 2024), it says she has more than 16 mill. listeners a month. That's pretty high! I looked up the old hero Prince (RIP), and he has less than 12 mill. listeners.

This is what any good musician tries to accomplish: simplicity and beauty, all at once. The 4 chords progression, the pure voice with no unnecessary fioritura, everything is on the right place with no need of extra elements. This is really delightful. You've got a new fan over here.

Laufey is of the rare artists whose videos I listen through in their entirety every time I am introduced to a new one. She started showing up in my feed a couple of days ago and although I wasn’t really in the mood for her style of music at that moment, her lovely voice and clever lyrics hooked me. It’s very nice to see her instrumental ability showcased here. I’m a fan.

Came to Laufey purely by accident, started listening and became totally hooked. Not just by her beauty but by the beauty and purity of her voice. I am here to simply gawk over such an amazing artist who ceases to amazing for just a little bit lessens my stress and i am more than thankful. If Laufey released an acoustic album I would 100% be willing to pay for it hands down. Do not get me wrong I love her style and music but sometimes the acoustic version is just so peaceful. I just wanna buy her a coffee and pick her brain LOL.

Incredible. I worked in an independent record shop in south London for five years and I've heard A LOT of music. And you have an absolute gift and talent. Also, I thought the little talk at the end was great. I wish you luck, because that's all you need really, you have everything else.
